    Default Women's History Month

That time of the year has rolled around again, yes, I'm speaking of March, known as Women's History Month in America. Some may remember my recent post about black history month and I'm just wondering if you all feel the same about women's history month. Should we give an entire month to the celebration of the deeds of one sex, females, as we give a month to celebrate the deeds of one race, blacks, in february? Doesn't this just endorse the belief that we are all somehow different instead of fostering equality? After all, isn't a bit insulting to women to have a month dedicated to their deeds, as if they need a month of recognition due to not being recognized enough all the time for their deeds? Shouldn't we just commemorate the deeds of great "people" instead of great "women" or great "blacks"?

America seems to love embracing this idea of different but equal but that is not true equality. True equality can only be achieved when we stop shaming and celebrating people based upon factors that are out of their control, such as being born black or being born female. I always find it so damned stupid when people ask me if I'm proud to be Italian on Columbus day as if I should be so damned proud to be of the same ethnicity of a man who lived 500 years ago. Am I wrong?

Better start rolling out the LGBT month, then. It's so stupid.

I will agree with this when we stop celebrating all other people, other than white men for every month other than march and february. The truth is, however, that we celebrate the deeds of everyone, black, white, female, asian, etc... all year round, as we should, yet we still feel the need to arbitrarily assign a full month to certain races and a certain sex other than male. All this does is create more divisions between people based upon foolish things like race and sex. If we want equality and fairness we must be more of a meritocracy and celebrate the deeds of great people, not the race or sex of the people who become great through their deeds.

When you designate a month to especially celebrate it, obviously you guys haven't reached equality, otherwise the idea would never come up.

Just like businesses having "employee empowerment day." If they really WERE empowered, it would never occur to them to have that day.

A women's role in society never seems to be appreciated any more. For almost every great man that is alive, I'd bet he had a great mother to bring him up.

And for almost every sinister murderer or evil tyrant that has ever lived, I'd bet he had a neglectful and horrible mother. Besides, we have mother's day to celebrate the role of mothers in our society, which I also disagree with but that is another topic for another day.

And as to a woman's role not being appreciated anymore, sorry but that is bull. A female plays much the same role as a male in today's American society. We have female politicians, professors, doctors, etc... Women have gained ground and become equals in most every field yet still they get their own month? How can this even be justified considering Hillary Clinton could actually become president, the highest office in the land. Anyone that argues that women need special recognition today only does so because he/she believes that women are not, in fact, equal and therefore require a special little pat on the back just for being female. That is not equality, it is reverse sexism.

I've met feminists who still want a dominating and manly man to take them in a manly fashion.

Women haven't really "gained ground", so to say. They still lag hugely behind the men in just about every field that you can imagine. Hillary Clinton? Well, she's the only female candidate out of (what used to be) many, many male ones. And she's a pathetic crybaby who uses her gender to appeal to certain types of voters. Seen a women in the science and engineering field? Well, that's the field I'm going into, and I can safely say that its still male dominated. Most women don't amount to much in the work place, fact.

Now, feminists want you to think this is because of male oppression; but it's not! It's because, quite simply, girls are rarely interested in the stuff men are - because they're girls! Men and women are not the same. Women are not just men with a womb. We're different in many, many more ways. We think differently, have different instincts, different behaviours, different hopes and different goals. It's simply not natural for women to want to be successful in the areas that men are. Subconsciously, they are really not interested in science and technology. They aren't wired to think like that. It's not their pursuit. But don't tell feminists that, you misogynist!

I've met feminists who still want a dominating and manly man to take them in a manly fashion.
Every women wants the alpha male, and the alpha male takes them in a manly and dominant fashion. Women are hardwired to want the alpha male, whether feminists want it or not.

If women had been adequately represented in the studies of traditional history, they wouldn't have found the need to go through the trouble of creating a Women's History Month.

Therefore, there must be a need for it.

Think of it as a good way of learning about some women's contributions to history that you might not have learned otherwise. Unless you want to live your life in ignorance, I can't see how a little extra knowledge is a bad thing. You might even find out that women have done more than be wives and mothers to great men. Fancy that.

And, what have women been responsible for to give them more coverage in history?

I don't see the point in giving anyone special recognition.

If I wanted to know some great achievements made by women/blacks/germans/people called Robert I'd look it up.

It's not fair....Black women now have more dedicated history time than black men.

Well, Black History Month is more about the black men. Black women still have to wait for Women's History Month.
