    Icon5 TIC Multiplayer Input (soon to be released)

    Soon you guys will be able to play TIC Multiplayer battles (after the soon to come out patch)

    I'm compiling some basic info for the MP Thread, not being the most seasoned MP-player myself, I would love your input on MP game rules etc. We want a little list to make getting into MP easy for those who have not fought MP before, and some tips on how to make the games fun.
    • 1. Are there any rules you often play with? and why?
    • 2. If so, any usual abbreviations they go by?
    If you have some more time to spare.

    • 3. What game settings do you usualy use for MP? (restricted cam? Weather? Unitsize? etc)
    • 4. What game modes to you like best? (1vs1 2v2 etc.)

    1. No rules. Hate rules.

    3. Vary though unit size should be on Normal and money limit should be around 10000 - 15000
    4. 3some ?

    Personaly I agree, no rules

    1 on 1 is the best

    i would suggest balanced (fairly) army compositions, relative to the types of armies available in the period of TIC

    but this is just common sense

    The devil is in the unit cost details. If you can get these costs balanced properly, no rules are needed. This shouldnt be too bad with the limited unit lists in TIC.

    absolutely. you guys might remeber me being an MP junkie back when RTR forums were up... good old times back then i rebalanced units cost (EDU) plus some moral changes (IIRC drastically reduced skirmishers moral becaise some folks tend to put them in loose formation to hold off heavy infantry line which is rediculous) exclusively for MP and that does solved hell of a lot of problems and only "rule" you gonna need is money restriction.
    for RTR (being a realistic mod) the main goal is to encourage players assembling a realistic, balanced armies and discourage elites spamming.
    camera is always restricted for realism purposes. i think its a good compomise between two extremes: general camera and unrestricted camera.
    also we always used huge units size or large if someone god really crappy PC.
    2x2 battles are the most fun! you can hardly ever play it on huge unit size though but large did just fine.

    1. Rules are a personal pref I don't mind.
    2.
    3.'General view' + large units
    4.As many as we can get. Usually 2v2 due to lack of combatants

    I hope this gets off the ground as I am still playing 6 gold with mates and the dopey AI usually ruin the battles. Can't wait to see the smarter AI in this patch.

    Great input Sarkiss. I agree, in my mind the only restrictions needed should be the cash.

    The best thing about MP games is planning your units depending on what you think your opponent will use..

    If I'm not mistaken the patch will open up some more units for custom/mp battles from the current list so every factions will have around 10-12 to choose from.

    Costs/stats are sometimes different even for a same unit depending on factions. If sticking to 10000-12000 shekels game then if Carthage players choose to use elephants he/she may only have a couple more other units I think.
