Default trouble with characters not having kids

my 2 youngest men are beginning to age, and i just saw they have the "wife is barren" trait .... so i was wondering if someone could tell me how to type the "O" with the apostrophe above it or accent mark (irish faction, O Briains)

BTW great patch, love the changes. Also is there a way to make your family members have kids?

I believe, though am not sure, that you either just put the O with the name as in "Timothy OBrian" or you use an underscore as in "Timothy O_Brian." I had this problem before and solved it just by trial and error, but I don't remember how I solved it. Sorry if this doesn't help.

I too have had trouble getting my generals to have children even after giving them high fertility traits. Anyone else?

Well remember that the ammount of family members (births/adoptions/man of the hour) are all connected to the ammount of provinces you have. If you have 2 provinces and spare generals you will never see man of the hour and I am quite sure births are also connected to that...

modify the descrcharactertraits file for fertility traits to be more effective & give them to all general/ princesses
    If you aren't careful...

    ...THIS will happen

Wow, you're having fertility problems but in my game I'm not having any difficulty at all! In fact one of my generals was able to produce a child all on his own.

Awesome! Do you know, by chance, if this requires starting a new campaign? Sorry if that's an ignorant question but I have trouble keeping track of which changes require a new game and which do not.

If you want to give characters the fertility trait in a current campaign, you could always use the cheat "give_trait".

    So for example, you were playing England and wanted to give Geoffrey Plantagenet the trait you press the tilde key [`] to bring up the console and type;
    Code:
    give_trait "Geoffery Plantagenet" "Fertile"3
This in turn will give the intended family member the "Prolific" trait, as it adds a significant boost to you chances of having kids.

i would do that if i knew how to type an "o" with an accent mark above it ..... also do you type the quotation marks in the cheat also?

I understand that, and have done that, but I was wondering if I needed to start a new campaign if I edited the descrcharactertraits file for fertility traits to be more effective. I'm guessing I probably do. Thanks for the help by the way.

@ DrMumbo- you do not have to start a new campaign

it is much easier just to do this cheat- *with character selected outside of settlement & not under the command of a higher ranking general* give_trait this Fertile 3
    If you aren't careful...
