Hi KK and others,
Since I sorta got the ball rolling on officers (still needs work) I was reminded of the standard bearers that appeared in RTW (and mods).
Could standard bearers be added to SS as officers?
If so, PLEASE!!

Or more better, add niko officer mod!![]()
I like that... BTW, is there anyway to enable banners in SS 5.1? I don't see any option to enable it in the preferences...
guys, just let me remind you medieval standards were NOT the same as roman-esq standards. They were usually attached to lances or spears and were triangular in shape. Perhaps these standards could be attatched to high tiered units only, granting them an additional bonus (knights, generals bodyguards - could have their lances adorned with standards, while high quality knights on foot may have a true standard bearer next to their officer) Units such as spearmen and militiamen should not have access to standards, and neither should lower tier castle infantry.
It would be uber to have some flags at the lances.
A shame that its impossible for this game, but it would be awesome if the flagbearers would stay put on conquered towers and gateways to show they are conquered and let the rest of the unit move on.
If I understand the engine correctly that may be plausible Inhuman one. If KK doesn't mind tweaking some other graphics, it may be possible to add a 3d sprite to a tower flag. It wouldn't move around or do anything special - he would just stand there holding the flag, and would disappear when units ran out of the proximity of the tower.
As for flags on lances, it could actually be done. It would only be graphical of course, but as if generals bodyguards and high tier knights needed more moral =\. Plus standards in the west were hard to come by on mounted troops - the japs were famous for attatching it to the backs of their armor. However, if we add standards to some limited selections of infantry with a bonus for that AND for an officer we could have a really kickass mini mod on our hands.
Err, I meant without bonuses - actually, recent Soul Calibur IV screenshots and BC reminded me of small triangular banners on all lances for certain units.
And please - no wax figurines, a flag that is just attached to a structure would do... Wolfslayer pointed out about the possible unique textures for different factions, so we can just model a flag in, making it change the texture as the owner of the castle would change.
P.S. What is the difference in English between the words "flag" and "banner"?![]()
jeez if you haven't try niko mod.

Flag Carrier, New general skin, new animation.
I disable banner all together and rely on the actual flag carrier to show up on the wall. Which is pretty cool.
Give it a run yourself from those who hasn't attempted this mod yet.
Aha - checked Answers.com through Google - flag means флаг and banner is знамя; pretty synonymous. =)
Err, got a translation of these words on Russian and now do understand a difference - it is no way sarcastic...
2 Vasques:
As far as I remember, there were some units with triangular banners at the lances in BC - should be easy to implement for anyone who can edit the model files, since it is a simple triangle attached - but dunno about the animation, as I played only the few battles in BC... Someone who can view BC may steal the idea for us!![]()
