first thing i have to say:

i honour all youve just added and modded and did so this mod is as good as it is actually

but i gotta say one negative thing:

the stratmap just looks like a piece of crap (sorry using that words)

can you guys let it more look like in rome medieval?

salutes ChivTW,im very sorry to see H.R.E posting that,(he's a new member in TWC),im really disappointed,any way,nothing can break the respect between our Mods,and im disagreed with H.R.E,ChivTW start map is good and interesting,but every Mod has its special style.
i hope that will not happen again,i will pm him now,he must apologize.

Normally I don't answer this kind of questions.
But I feel a little bit dissapointed about that.

First of all: I think that the map is very beautiful and obviously a lot of other user feel the same.
Or how do you explain the success of chivalry in the last years?

Chivalry has his own wit and charme and his own character. All modder gave their best in the last years and the result is one of the most successful and most solid full-conversions.

If you like the map of Rome Medieval much more then I suggest to play this mod. Rome Medieval is also a great project, no doubt. And the modders there are very friendly.

Chiv's map has been originally created by militia man, one of the mod leaders for version 0.34, that was back around the first quarter of 2006 (it was the original and only medieval RTW mod in the style, or better said with the idea of a style like MTW 1 on the RTW engine ... find here the original home of Chivalry SCC Chiv subforum ... earliest still existing post is from 11th November 2004). The map has been revised by me, by SicilianVespers and skin-wise a lot by Uranos throughout the development of the follow-ups after 0.34, mainly v.0.50 (october 2006) and patches v.0.6x.

Chiv is a classical and unique mod in the line of the most famous RTW mods, started seriously right after the release of RTW. Chivalry has probable around 30.000 downloads (or a lot more, it's not anymore countable) in all its versions since their first releases - to underline Pomp Mag's statement of the success (Chiv was considered as winner in a few TW community forum awards).

There is little sense to say "why don't you use a map skin-style like that in Rome Medieval", imo., but as Pomp Mag said, just go and play another mod if you don't like the Chiv map, than to say it looks like crap. Btw., it is very easy to put on the MTWII map skin-style, and i discussed this already earlier, but i say: This map is unique and so is all the Chiv mod content with its special flavor ... to this special flavor belongs also the style of the map.

I never saw a mod which offers such a unique pool of titles.

Esp. the Roman titles and the Seljuks Kayser. I really never saw a mod which offered that. Phantasic idea. The Chivarly-team is a brain factory and surprises me again after all the years.

Skoutatoi have phalanx ability, yes.

We need to develop a few things and atm. we are testing a build 0.97.2, that goes probable still to 0.98.x, before we can or we will release a next patch version, and btw., there will be two different campaign-start-situations with different start-dates.

Yes, the Byzantium faction submod units are integral part of the regular CTW version now! Some changes that had (in some cases) been planed for a submod campaign were adopted in the current version as well...

Well made preview, too.
But I have to admit I mised one line in the preview, something like: "revised edb and edu"
Because there was one thing that "ruined" my last to campaigns: seljuk's spam of Saracen Spearmen
Every time I entered the middle east, I encountered multiple full stacks (not a bad thing) composed fully or mostly of saracen spearmen.
I think this is a bad thing in two ways:
Immersion: from a seljuk army you would expect lots of horsemen, especially ha's, supported by fanatical gazis and some heavy troops like guhlams and saracens. To see armies with 16 saracen spearmen, 3 saracen infantries and one lone unit of seljuk horse archers hurts a bit

Game play: saracen full stacks arent very fun to fight against. Most european factions are pretty good in fighting large quantities of armored spearmen, because that type of soldiers is popular in europe too.

Sorry to :wub: about that aspect. The army composition of other factions seem fine though I cant coment on the fatamids; in my last to games the seljuks dominated the area where I entered the middel east.
And sure, you will get FMAA fullstacks too once in a while but most european armies are well rounded with ap units, swordsmen, missle troops and cavalry.

I even tried to "fix" this issue by lowering the stats of saracen spearmen while highering their costs. I've done this after I aborted my first game only to see it hadn't the desired effect in my second game.

Maybe restricting their AOR to the levant or something?
Ah well I just hope there will be typical seljuk armies in the next version again (iirc the seljuks had pretty good army compositions arround v0.60)
