    Default questions about 3ds max

    hi,

    iīm trying to make some unit cards as described in the threat posted in this section. Now i canīt figure out how to make a unit card for a cavalry unit. Could someone tell how to do this? The other problem is to get rid of the texture parts that should not be seen (alpha?). Iīm not very familiar with 3ds max so if someone could help me would be very happy.

    You have to take a render of the horse and then one of the rider and merge them in photoshop (of whichever editing program you use)..

    The other problem is to get rid of the texture parts that should not be seen (alpha?). Iīm not very familiar with 3ds max so if someone could help me would be very happy.

    Ah ok, that should be easy, thx for that great idea!

    I tried that tutorial in the link you provided, but the screenhots are missing and i do not have an idea how to do that. itīs crazy, yesterday i made some unit cards already and everything worked like a charm but today i canīt figure it out. i was able to delete the background, import animations an so on, bur now i canīt get rid of the black parts that show when a unit uses a round shield for example, they are visible all the time, even at the render scene.

    I'd normally advise just doing everything in max (importing the horse and rider and rendering it out there). Just be aware that the proportions of the horse are incorrect in max - you'd need to scale it down maybe 80-90% or so.

    Its easy. Import rider, add animation. Select all and move him up a ways to get him out of the way. Go back to the import script select "Ignore All" and import your horse model. Set up a second texture for your horse, apply it and scale him down. Move the rider back and BAM! You can render away.
