    Default Corruption :\

I'm having a huge problem with corruption as Oman. I'm getting most of my income from Sur, Hormuz, Muscat, and Kolachee, but pretty much most of my cities in India, and to the far south, like Calula and Suqutra, are pulling in a whopping two digit number a turn, while suffering from corrpution of over 1000 florins! Can anyone give me someadvice on how to deal with this?

I'm not sure of the Vanilla buildings that combat it, I think town Hall types do. Rest Assured this is something we're going to look into, as it really defeats the notion of an Omani mercantile empire if you can't make any money from it.

    Same problem in my campaign.

Always 1000 corruption, no matter how law buildings you build. The only thing that helps me is good governors. the strange thing is that you get -1000 florins if city is far from capital and you get -1000 florins if city is on the other side of the map.

Maybe corruption shall increase with distance a bit more, I don´t know.

Town halls and barracks help stop corruption but it does depend on the distance more than vanilla. I find you can manage corruption with barracks and town halls only over a certain distance (from Constantinople to Tbilisi) - any further and it gets a bit to much for them..

Generals with high loyalty and faction leaders also help a lot no matter the distance..

Could use some ideas for future buildings and such that would help fight corruption in the various topics for putting forth those ideas. Is it Law that fights corruption?

Yes, it is law. And just as an example, playing as Abbasids if your capital is in Baghdad when you conquer Hormuz you get this 1000 penalty income although you manage to upgrade all barracks & law buildings. But if you conquer Aden you get the same 1000 penalty.

Maybe a simple solution would be to have more family members? I recognonized that after mid game you rarely get an adoption and your generals overage and die which leaves no ability to govenor new conquered citys.

Move ur capital to the center of ur empire, this can reduce the corruption notably~
Btw, i think servous corruption helps increase the historism of BC Mod, because it's not logical that the bigger the empire, the stronger it is~

While playing as the Kyphacks I had very nearly 8000 gold a turn lost to Corruption, and all I did was "Unite the hordes" I never got to a large empire.

could the problem be the governer, in my campaigns whenever i stick a loser family member that has no loyalty, command or religion in a city the corruption always goes up a little. :hmmm:

law in BC doesn't do much once a city/castle gets to a certain number in population. if a region is far enough from your capital, even if you have all the law buildings you will still loose 1000 to corruption, no exceptions.

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii

I actually like the corruption - it is realistic and it weakens overstretched empires.

I think that naturally corrupt settlements are fine, i can't stand the corruption rate of family members and generals, I mean is it historical that every leader who got a town became chaotically corrupt?

    ...which is hot.

I like to spread my empire of water and get alot of trade going, but I lose so much of it due to corruption.

When I used to play the mod 'The Long Road" I tinkered a lot with the different stats. I remember a setting that controlled how much a governor's piety effected corruption. If you bump this up (though I don't know what this is set at in Broken Crescent to begin with) then when a very pious governor is installed, the corruption can be lessened by a large amount. To me this seemed to fit reality quite well since a very pious governor wouldn't allow corruption but when a governor with little piety is installed far from the capital it would make sense there'd be alot of corruption.

Do you recall the file? I know which file you're talking about (it deals with distance to capital penalties and such, I believe), but I forget which it is.

Will there be a career system in BC like the one in Stainless Steel where generals get promotions depending on their education ?
