    Default Problem changing weapons

Ok so I decided to give my pavise spearmen some new spears.

So I merged them with the new spear in milkshape. Then for the attachment set I took the pavise shield texture set and below the shields I pasted in the relevant textures from a different file. (I'm using Gimp by the way) I then did the necessary lining up with the texture coordinator in Milkshape and converted everything back into the game. I test and find my units suffering from Jesus syndrome and the spears are also completely black even though I had alinged everything back in Milkshape. It's like my pasted texture is invisible.

I notice the spear group in not assingned a comment so I use the one it used to have in the original file I took it from. This fixes the Jesus syndrome but now my spears are totally invisible!! What's going on??

    Thanks.

My guess, you are using an older version of Milkshape. Anything before v1.8.x does not offer the proper vertex weighting and will mess up your model. If that is not the case, its still a rigging issue. However, I am not very verse in Milkshape rigging to help you out. Hopefully someone else is.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I am using Milshape 1.8.2. I have managed to mod units before on it but then I was using photoshop. Since my free trial stopped and I'm skint then I tried Gimp. So I'm guessing it's a problem with setting things up correctly in Gimp. Unfortunately most tutorials I have looked at deal with photoshop.

It has nothing to do with GIMP or photoshop. You've somehow managed to mess of the vertex weighting on the model. According to Alletun's milkshape modeling tutorial there are several things that can cause jesus sydrome, i.e. cause problems with the the skin modifiers.

    1) 1 or more groups have no comments

    2) your bone assignments are wrong

    3) 1 or more faces are not assigned to a bone.

No I fixed the Jesus syndrome. When they had the Jesus syndrome the spears were all black despite placing the relevant section over the newly pasted spear texture in the texture coordinator. When I added a comment to the spear (the one it used in the other model I took the spear from to merge with the Pavise spearman model) then they Jesus syndrome stopped but now the spears are invisible!! Sorry if you misunderstood what I was saying.

Problem solved!! I discovered that I had assigned the spear to bone_weapon 2 instead of 1 in Milkshape!!

Anyway thanks for the help everyone.

May I suggest avoiding assigning weapons to the weapon bones they just cause problems. The right hand is the safest bet.
