I'm guessing your alpha channel on the normal map is white, right?

Paste your regular texture into the alpha channel on your normal map. it should desaturate automatically. then mess with the brightness until it's how you want it.

I don't really understand Alpha channels in Gimp. When i try to paste into it I'm just left with the checkered transparent screen thing. I thought it was supposed to turn grey according to the tutorial. But I cannot get this to happen. How exactly do you paste to the alpha channel and change the brightness in Gimp?

    Thanks.
