    Default Comprehensive walkthorugh

Is there a comprehensive walkthrough anywhere on the internet. I searched google and found nothing. I went on Gamefaqs and found one but it was quite frankly lacking. I'm looking for something that really does have a breakdown of the entire game. Any know a site or anything?

I dont think so as yet. It would be a big challenge to write down a sucessful walkthrough for every faction in the game :hmmm:
    Theres one for Kingdoms though.

I don't even mean for factions but for general game mechanics.

Just play the game and use your first campaign as your tutorial. No one expects you to rule the game on your first go. The only thing I would look into is how to build a good economy. The combat and tactics will come with time and with stuff you pick up here.

Agreed. I just got the game a few days ago, and started a campaign as Spain. At first I was getting my rear kicked, but I eventually sorted out how to do stuff and have conquered Iberia and parts of France!

Of course, you could always ask specific questions here. What are your main problems?

The wiki would be a good place to start: http://www.twcenter.net/wiki/Medieval_2:_Total_War

You could always purchase the official M2TW Strategy Guide.

This is the guide that i was referring to when i said "quite frankly lacking" Everything in that guide can be got from the manual or the tutorials.

I'm wondering after i have my 44 provinces as England how long i should ideally have left to then attack jerusalem? SO you know, i have france, England, most of Germany and fringes of Spain. I intend to finish germany soon, at the same time i want to destroy the Danes because they are being right bastards. All the while pushing through spain which shouldn't be to difficult due to the fact that at any point you can hold your borders with 2 provinces. Also I'm at war with Milan who i think i will destroy after Germany and Denmark. Then the plan would be to go through Africa and eventually Jerusalem just Because it is a nice thin strip of land where i can concentrate my forces.

How does this sound to everyone?

Sounds good and I don't think that there is much to add, as you're most likely earning more than enough cash to support multiple armies.

Depending on which version you're playing (especially Vanilla - e.g. no mods) you should consider getting rid of Milan as fast as possible so they can't amass their Genoese crossbowmen.

That sounds a lot like my first England Campaign. One mistake I don't want you to make is waiting too long to try and take Jerusalem. I waited too long and ran out of turns. Keep in mind that it takes a long time to get there and you will probably run into a formidable Venetian navy. They will hand your inexperienced English ships defeat after time killing defeat. Not to mention they might send a whole stack to Davey Jones' locker.

Crush the Danes, they are always a pain in the ass.
Don't underestimate the time it will take to pacify Spain. It will take longer than you think. The terrain makes for slow movement, especially with siege weapons. A sea landing on the western coast will help speed that up.

It will work. If you do it this way, expect it to take at least 40 turns to walk/capture your way to Jerusalem, after you hit the African coast due south of Sicily.

What I have done is to just build several large fleets (so that they cannot be sunk) and take AT LEAST three (3) full and powerful stacks directly to Jerusalem. This method takes about 10 to 12 turns from the time your fleets sail from Italy.

Update. I do now see how long it takes just walkign through spain. However they are offering little resistance so it should not be to troublesome. If i am lucky i should be able to take spain with the 3 stacs that i already have there. Milan is throwing two and half stacks at me, germany another half, and denmark...well i'm quite intent on destroying them now. At this point in the game 3 stacks at once is a lot. My battle next turn with Milan could be quite game deciding. I do of course have a relatively equal number of men to combat Milan and germany. However whether they will be good enough remains to be seen. I expect i will have to use the mountains to win it for me.

FYI: "totalwar.org" has some great walkthoughs for factions, guilds, game mechanics etc.

    Cheers!

Yes, but as you roll through Spain and gain those cities in your economy, you should start rolling in lots of cash. You also gain the bonus of eliminating (or severly diminishing) a front. You should have lots of cash to support multiple stacks long before you get to 40 territories.

there is a piece of land with insane mountains if you battle over it. It's in the south of Dijon province. Northern half of the battlemap is flat and woody, the other half is a steep mountain with numerous cliffs and exactly one route to the top, and the whole slope is at a minimum of 60 degrees angle (!!! half of the map is more vertical than horizontal ;-O). I was like wtf when I saw it. Luckily, I was the defender ;].

    Sorry for OT ;p

Given that nobody else has mentioned it yet...

Crusades are the best way to get to Jerusalem. Set up a couple of Crusader armies and set sail from virtually anywhere in the Med. It will take you about half as long to get there with Crusaders as it will with a regular army and as an added bonus you don't need to pay their salaries for the duration.
