    Default I Love Jesus

alright you christians (particularly the girls).
The last time my ex-mate- born again christian dragged me off to church (uniting church), i was made to endure one of the worst quasi-rock concert/sermons/group mental  activities i've ever endured.
After escaping from that horrid place, and after years and years of therapy, i was left with a burning question from that night:
Why do a lot of young christians talk about 'Jesus' like he's their boyfriend/lover?
'jesus, oh yes, right on, hallelujah etc', 'i love you lord etc'
i distinctly remembering speaking to a young christian girl who more or less admitted she perceived jesus as her 'prince charming', SNAG, lord and god all rolled up in one.
Sidestepping all the psychological factors involved in this, i just want to know:

is this truly how you young christians perceive 'jesus'? like your boyfriend???!!

    You're back already?

Naw, just kidding, you're a good guy.

I think they are put in such a hormone induced rage over Jesus, it's like being in 2002 again and N*Sync just stopped by.
    But mark me well; Religion is my name;

There is a good reason to love the Lord Jesus Christ (in a father/son type of relationship). He has suffered and died on a cross for all humanity, so that their sins could be forgiven. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. All we need to do is to ask Him for forgiveness, and He forgives.

That's well and nice but I haven't done anything against the man, so I really don't need his forgiveness.

That may be a part of it. Some people get caught up in the whole worship Jesus deal it starts to get weird.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

Wait when did you become super Christian Lucius?

At any rate at my school people do that as more of a joke, and I admit with the right timing it can be fairly funny.

What do you mean "super Christian?" Define that for me. Am I not like other believers?

Hey thanks, I take that as a compliment. You're rad too!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Oh wait, that kind of radical....

Why should a Christian not be radical? The Christians who are the most "on fire" for God are very true to the way Jesus meant for believers to be. By "on fire," I don't mean violence or anything like that. I mean witnessing to others, caring for their eternal fate, and living a righteous Christ-like life.

Well you always had TW like stuff but now your icon, personal title, and sig all reflect Christianity. I may have not been paying close attention to you but it seemed like such a sudden jump to me. Oh and no I don't feel like your like most believers, for example I live in the Bible Belt and I've never heard anyone preach like in your first post in this thread and combine that with seeing some of your most recent posts led me to say super Christian.

Though I may have been exaggerating it a bit.

Um, do you post about anything else anymore? Do you enjoy anything else? All of your posts are proselytizing.

And, yet again, you don't answer challenging posts.

i commited no sin. ur religion is built on fabricated guilt, lucius julius; and you would have it for the rest of us.
i think ppl like u are so passionate about converting others because you secretly doubt the teachings of the bible and feel compelled to convert others to shore up your crumbling faith in christianity.
you remember that first moment of bliss u felt when u first converted to christianity; scientists liken that moment of conversion to being in love and typically, it's common for such events to occur when an individual feels ready to make a change in his/her own life.
But that blissful feeling of spiritual oneness isnt permanent, because you've sought your answers to your life's problems from an outdated collection of scriptures; your foundation in your own spirituality isnt strong which is why you so vehemently seek to convert others, hoping vainly to reap the same blissful oneness you first experienced, by witnessing others having theirs.

    @oldgamer,
if 'god' is so omnipotent & omniscient, how come he cant stand this 'sin' he, being omnipotent would've created, and being omniscient, would've foreseen its existence?

see, you know when a religion is really really unhealthy when its adherants start talkinga bout their 'god' like he's justin timberlake

But of course, He didn't create sin, did He? However, He did give the greatest gift that He could have given, besides life. He gave the human race freewill, which simply means the freedom to be a unique individual.

However, He also provided a solution for sin, which is why so many people love Jesus.

If people see Jesus as Justin Timberlake, then their vision of Jesus is somewhat obscured by popular culture. However, I would much prefer that they worship Jesus rather than Justin Timberlake ... or Bertrand Russell.

I have a good friend named Stefan, who is quite elderly. He comes from Ukraine, and remembers the day when Stalin's people came into his village (the village was almost totally Roman Catholic). On that day, everyone in the village was gathered into the square, and were ordered to verbally renounce belief in Jesus Christ.

The result was that the village priest was crucified, literally. The nuns were raped by the soldiers and shot in the head. Some 70 other villagers were killed in various and ingenious ways, in a single day. Even though Stefan was only 7, at the time, he still remembers it as if it had happened yesterday. Most of the people left alive were children.

Now, Stalin is dead. The Soviet Union is dead. But Christianity is alive and well, in his village in Ukraine. The population of the village includes men who were soldiers in the execution squads. What they saw from the people they killed made them ashamed, first, and then made them want to have what those people had.

    What did they see?

The saw the Words of the Gospel lived out in actuality. They saw what agape-love is. It's not a schmaltzy, new-age, light Gospel. It consists of people who are willing to sacrifice themselves, if necessary. They take the Words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount seriously, when He says:

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.

    Mt 5:10-11

Like I said before, however, how can I explain it to you sufficiently if you haven't experienced it?

Logically, to be able to create something capable of a function, one must be able to create or duplicate that function. The function is essentially subset to the creation carrying it out.

It follows that if God were able to create a being capable of sin, then he either created sin, or he is not the omnipotent god, and the being that created him is the one who created sin.
