    Default Disabling the console

My eleven year old nephew wants to play without cheating, but his willpower is approximate to most other eleven year olds, so is there any way to disable the console?

Take a knife and put the ~ key out of the keyboard.

    Seriously.
    You can do that.

But it won't do much other than taking out the covering.

But getting back on topic, I agree with "malcolm mcdowell."
He's still a kid after all.

True, I suppose it's best that he sees for himself that he'll glean the most enjoyment if he doesn't cheat.

I can't understand these idiots that shell out £30/£40/£50 on a game and then immediately look for cheat codes so they can finish the game as soon as possible! Firstly, many games can be finished inside of ten hours these days even without cheating and cheating on a new game is a waste of money anyway! At least my nephew doesn't do that...

You could play in hotseat and disable the console.

if he's playing by himself, let him sort that out. either he plays properly, or he gives in. its no real biggy, and its his problem. if you are playing against him, play hotseat with it disabled. of course, that means you cant cheat...

Disipline is the key - tell him you'll starve him if he ever presses the ~ key again

Seriously though, I dont know how you actually disable the console, but you can always just explain to him that theres no reward in winning a game by cheating if you havn't already.

Or just tell him something like the computer will break if he does it too many times

None of that will work, he's a savvy little guy! I'm always telling him there's no point in cheating, but the message doesn't seem to have dropped in yet...

you could assign the ` to a windows hotkey or something.

maybe make it shut down pc if its pressed once or twice.
you gotta press it twice once to open console again to close it.

eventually he would learn that the cheats are breaking his game and either stop using it or work out whats causing it and fix it

I used to cheat when I was 11 also.

Now, I make sure I beat the game before cheating.

The most fun I have ever had is usually when not cheating.

I tend to use the toggle_fow cheat all through the campaign.

Any other cheats are just blasphemy
