I had enough Cardinals to vote a Milanese Pope every turn.

So, my "relations" with the Pope is always 100%. If he ever gets pissed off at me, I have 4 of my best assassins outside Rome, and they will Assassinate the Pope within a moment's notice. The last 10 popes in 100 years have been Milanese, and more than 7 of them have been Assassinated by me.

"Excommunicate me? BOOM! You dead!"

"Dare favor Spain more than me? BOOM! You dead!"

"Dare promote an English Priest to Cardinal position? BOOM! You dead!"

the Pope has switched so much, the current one is 28 years old since everyone older in Milan has had a turn as Pope, and has been assassinated.

Question: what *exactly* is your point? You figured assassinating a Pope is good to reconcile your Faction? You're brilliant. You figured that having your friend priest elected as Pope will make your relationship with the Papacy warmer? We admire your genuine intelligence.

I would reccomend you keep extra assassins roving around Europe and killing low level priests, it builds your assassins up, and further cements your control of the Papacy as there are less foreign priest that can eventually become Cardinals.... Also, keep a good song handy to play each time you excert your will on the Papacy by killing the Pope. I would suggest somthing by Sinead O'Connor.

Doesnt matter anymore. As Milan, I have eliminated every other Catholic Faction except Poland and Hungary. I want to first wipe out the Moors before going for them.

i had a similar experience where i was playing as sicily and had a theologians guild HQ in Rome and i could one i trainned a priest/bishop in rome then he became a cardinal stright away then he got voted pope all on the same turn
