Are you saying that it cTD'd in a battle with the vanilla models/textures gafm uses or that you tried in Alexander and it ctd'd?

This mod is ace, but every time I siege the settlement right at the top of Ireland's eastern coast it CTD's and it is very annoying! Also what happens If I take Mannan of his Island does this have any ill affects?

Can you give a bit more details as to what units/character were present and perhaps also provide a savegame?

Lugh, Generals bodyguard a unit of those mounted champions and two units of normal spearmen. The garrison consisted of five units of peasants, however I tried three more times and it finally worked with out a problem. As I saved afterwards I guess that makes the save game useless to you?

A CTD that does not occur after a reload. How frustrating

It cannot be the autosave bug as I deactivated autosave.

What else would be random going into a battle map? And why is Lugh always present?

Okay played for a bit more the crash seems to occur randomly before battles, I work around this by saving before they begin and reloading the save every time it CTD's and eventually it will allow you to play. As I always have Lugh present in my army it could be be because of him, but I'm not sure...

Update - I have still been unable to duplicate a CTD. Aradan has tried many times and has not had a single CTD. Although I do have a very rare CTD on battle loads with Lugh (had 2 so far in all the times loading up - which I put down to vanilla glitches) I cannot duplicate them. I have, by chance, a saved game of the last CTD but it does not CTD when I enter the exact same battle from this saved game.

If anyone has any idea what causes rare battle-load CTDs then do let us know All I can think of is traits, but none seem to be checked on battle load.

there are so many possible reasons for ctd when a battle should start.
    have you added the show_err?

can you test the units of the mod in custom battle?
game not finding texture or sprite problem, also wrong named cas possible

battle in terrain with problematic clima ( more then one grass with different config in the same area)
i ordered kingdoms now, i want to see it too.......

i had a look at the map files to see if i can spot something....
    map regions:
several provinces at the east coast and north have single isolated pixel with province color.
    ground map:
the right side, there is not all red area 196-0-0 , alot different red shades are there too
3 towns have dense forest in the settlement area, depends but could be a problem.
    climate map:
many times, three bordering climates are in an area, sometimes it can result in problems depending on your grass.txt file config...i check its values too.

i expierenced ctds when i had made a wrong config and entered into city view from stratmap, then i could check the area and solve problems like that.
But in medieval is no city preview anymore ....

Hehe, it's kinda funny when people ask MoN if he uses show_err... One would expect the top modder of the community to use it.

Yep, the units have been tested in CBs, that's why it has to be some random parametre, like traits. As for bad climate coding, the CTD has occurred in more than one locations afaik, and never when Lugh is not present, so again it *seems* to be connected to Lugh somehow...

On an unrelated note, if anybody has some feedback on the mod, it would be nice to share and thus help improve it.

i am waiting for my kingdoms expansion then i can tell you more .....
but my expierience in map making let me see the above possible problem zones and therefore i report my suggestions.
Btw., none of us old modding gods is save against errors.....;O)

But, has Lugh(whatever that is ) been coded in with sprites? I`m sorry to repeat the above theory, but it looks like a sprites problem(not saying it can`t be anything else). Still, have you tried removing the sprites lines from its DMB entry and see if you still get CTDs?

MoN said he has tested sprites; it was actually the first thing I tested as well. No harm trying once more I guess...

Btw, how is Kingdoms connected to GAFM?!

Thx webbird for the map pointers - don't know how that red mixup slipped in!

Anyway, as we said before, the element causing the CTD is random and so cannot be tested by "removing sprites" etc. as there is no consistent CTD. Aradan cannot get it to ctd at all. At the moment the only logical conclusion is that it is something to do with the configuration/graphics card of those users who have experienced it; and that my own rare CTDs (which cannot be duplicated) are vanilla bugs.

I'm not totally convinved of this conclusion but it the only one that makes sense as of yet.

MoN, any chance of getting The Morrigu into the Patch? War just lacks something without the Battle Raven

I did want her in but characters have to be male (or arguably all of one sex at least). As she is a member of the tribe she cannot be classed as someone they would worship and so I cannot make her a religious building either.

Any suggestions? An ancillary perhaps? Would add to attack/hps/line of sight (she can scout ahead in her form as crow)?
