Default PRO DEO ET REGE: SOUND FIXES

PRO DEO ET REGE SOUND FIXES

    SOUND PROBLEMS: Possible Solution #1
If you're using an English-Language version of M2TW and are experiencing sound problems, download these files:

    ENGLISH-LANGUAGE SOUND FILES

If you're using an Foreign-Language version of M2TW and are experiencing sound problems, download these files:

    FOREIGN-LANGUAGE SOUND FILES

The contents of these files should be placed in your PDER/data/sounds folder.

The difference between the two files is that due to lack of certain accents in localised versions of M2TW, factions with Eastern European accents have been mapped to use the German accent. The Scottish accent has been mapped to the English accent. The Mongol accent has been mapped to Arabic accent.

    SOUND PROBLEMS: Possible Solution #2
If the first solution does not work for you, then try downloading these files:

PRO DEO ET REGE SOUND TEXT FILES

These sound text files should be placed in your main Medieval II Total War directory - C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War (or wherever you have the game installed)

Then delete any sound files (.idx and .dat files) in your PDER sounds folder - PDER 1.0\mods\PDER_1.0\data\sounds.

When you restart a PDER campaign, the sound files should be generated in your PDER sounds folder.

SOUND PROBLEMS: Possible Solution - VISTA USERS
If you're using VISTA, you need to disable User Account Control and restart your computer.

If you're unsure how to disable UAC, follow this link

PLEASE NOTE, THIS WILL LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER A BIT MORE UNPROTECTED, SO IT'S RECOMMENDED RE-ENABLING UAC AFTER YOU'RE DONE PLAYING

THANKS TO MUNKPETERSEN FOR THIS FIX!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THESE SOLUTIONS RESOLVE LACK OF SOUND IN YOUR CAMPAIGN!

    Hi Socal,

I've tested the sound text files : no changes. Some sounds are always missing in game (end turn, end game, click on city, ...).

I've already tested the sound files : ditto.
Not really a problem because these sounds are not essentials to play the mod.

    In fact, it's very strange...

For memory, I play en english version of the game.

That's strange. You didn't by any chance delete the sound files from your main medieval data/sounds folder, did you?

Hmm:hmmm: Yeah, I suppose it could be Vista related. And you tried downloading the sound files I posted and that made no difference?

That's extremely odd. I'm going to reupload the sound files I'm using when I get the chance.

Please provide files in zipped format, some people are still on dial up. It should reduce the size from 7MB to 0.4MB as well.

I have no sound except on movies. Havent tried battles yet though. Its just that the lack of sound is making me sleepy.. For some reason i cant download your sound fixes, FDM keeps stopping the download as i start it. And btw, i keep getting these "file" formats that i dont know how to open? Wth is wrong? This vista is making me nuts....

Hmm...I would search that bug reports thread there were a few people who had sound problems using Vista. I think it was related to whether you were signed on as an admin and whether you clicked the "Show Compability Files" button on the menu bar of the window.

Don't know why the download is timing out or being killed. Must be a Vista security setting.

Just letting you know, the mod worked, however, I only have some sounds. The troops make noise when I click on them, the music plays, but the normal sounds one hears such as clicking on the city, clicking to start and quit, they are missing. On the other hand, as someone else pointed out those aren't essential, it is just nice to have affirmation that you clicked and something happened. It makes one feel better. I don't know about the battles yet because I have only played Georgia and I haven't had an army strong enough to challenge anyone yet.

I thought I would add, this is a great mod. I also played 0.4, and I appreciate the ability to recruit regular troops in cities. It makes it more realistic as the distinction in vanilla is fictitious except possibly in the middle east. I just thought I would add, is there a way to change the unit cards for buildings? Particularly for Churches, so that Eastern Christians might have Churches which actually appear like Orthodox Churches, or make the Gothic Churches look a lot better, or to make Spanish Churches look like the Romanesque style and not like the Florentine style which all Mediterranean factions have? That was just a thought. Thank you for your hard work.

Possible solution #1 worked for me. Might want to remind players that once unzipped, you will have to copy and paste. Game on!
