Big Battles and freeze up

Not likely a DLV issue, but figured this crew is more knowledgeable than the average MTW2 folks.

When I fight battles against two enemy armies simultaneously, the battle freezes about half way through. I have a very new computer with enough power to run anything --

Should I "dumb" down my graphical settings when I have to fight a battle like this?

I've been trying to avoid this type of battle, but sometimes the AI corners you and there is no alternative.

BTW, it seems to happen when I'm fighting the Danes, I'll track it, but can't recall a freeze against anyone else.

Well, I knocked the graphics down from 1650x high # to 1250, or whatever.

Worked fine. Just fought 4,000 Scotsmen in an epic battle, both sides with seige engines, good generals, pikes, archers, gunners, etc. I won, but by a tiny fraction (then I healed half my losses.....maybe that needs to be worked on).
