Neutral Milk Hotel just kinda...went away.

i wierd one i can think of was a shite pop band called b*witched that were around when i was a kid, they were **** they got loads of top 10 singles and then...nothing since.

Avril Lavingne ok her music was **** from the very first moment but in her old albums she was like some kind of "punk emotional rocker"(yeah I know is an oxymoron) and in the last one well she totally sold out to the media and the scene

Not a fan but Jewel, went from folkish, kinda of poetic type and fairly unique music to standard lame blond pop star wannabe. Gwen Stefani like mentioned in op is another prime example...I mean wth happened there?

At least Modest Mouse is still good. And while their music may not suit everyone their lyrics are amazing.

What happened to Limp Bizket. Just asking since they're from my home town.

Red Hot Chili Peppers comes to my mind first. I remember a time when the band was not that famous, and produced great funk and sensual sounds, but later altered their music to more popular genre, that did make them more succesful but at the same time buried story of a once so great band.

In fact; my very first album was Freakly Styley that perfectly illustrated how the real funk should be played.

Don't get me wrong, some of the new stuff is great but as Red Hot Chili Peppers came to usual pop icon, it was a last strike on already small funk genre.

I like Californication.

I consider Blood Sugar Sex Magic as an end of Red Hot Chili Peppers' funk and sensual era, and transformation just to regular pop icons. While One Hot Minute had some pretty nice musical innovations, it showd already signs that the era of funk had walked to its end and pop icons were where the real fame lied. A shame that the band didn't focus on what they knew the best; praise the free love, and play freakish funk.

Very true. They got mellow as hell after BSSM. But Californication was still VERY good. I liked Stadium Arcadium, but like any double CD, it could have been shaved into 1 great album.


What happened to Coolio? The rapper that had ahuge hit called 'Gangstas Paradise'? Last I heard, he had an internet cooking show. Not very gangster if you ask me...

I always saw Fred Durst as MTV little pet, when MTV got tired of him *****ing with other artist he just dissapeared with Limp Bizkit
