    Default Noob questions

I just started on M2TW and I do have a couple of questions that I hope someone can clear up for me.

    Questions:

    1. Is there any advantage of carrying a priest in your army? Seen couple of medieval movies where priests bless the army before battle. Thought it might be applicable here. What about taking a priest along on a crusade?

    2. Do I use a merchant on one resource or keep moving him around?

    3. At the early stages of campaign, I have alot of cities that are auto managed due to the lack of generals. Is that ok?

    Thanks

    1) No, Priest are good onli to keep them where do you need to get people converted to your religion!! for example if in Jerusalem's province do you have 70% islam (you see that in settlement's details window) well you take there a couple of good priest and you build churches, the two things toghether will convert population faster!! And to train good priest it's in your interest because when pope will die there will be papal elections and if you have good priest in the council you'll have more possibilities to have your man nominated pope!!

    2) Merchants have to stay on the resources, click on them then click on the resource, they will get to the resource and confirm you with short vocal message that they are opening commercial way..then leave them there till death...

    3) No, always manage yourself cities!! don't let AI to manage your businnes. when you chose the faction before starting campaign, toghether with the unlimited time option you also have the option "manage all settlements" well click that always before you start playing campaign...
30BC: Ottaviano Augusto becomes the first Imperator, in his 44 years of principate he will bring to the empire peace and prosperity!
70AD: Vespasiano is the winner of first great empire's civil war, rebuilding Roman world after the Nero's dark ages.
98AD: Traiano becomes imperator after that the senateman Nerva adopted him,he will start a gold age for the empire getting it to biggest extension!! 117AD-180AD Adriano,Antonino Pio and Marco Aurelio administrate the empire during his richest and most pacific period, with their good administration Rome lives its golden age.
193AD: Settimio Severo wins the civil war started after the death of Commodo starting the Severan dinasty, his heirs will not be as good as him. 252-285AD Rome lives the peak of III century's crisis, onli the emperor Aureliano will be able to reunite the empire breacked in 3 parts and the great reformer Diocleziano will give to Rome militar, politic and social cohesion after decades of caos. 325AD:Costantino rules alone over the empire and christianity is for the first time accepted by the imperial government.

    Thanks.

Pretty sure I selected that option before starting. To train troops and construct building, you do need to have a general in the city, right?

Not if you select the manage all cities option either from the start of the campaign or from game options. That way youll always be in charge of the settlements.

About Merchants.... make sure you find the best resources for them to sit on. This can be done by selecting your Merchant the holding the cursor over different resources, which displays the value. This is important as you only have a limited number of Merchants, and resources vary from 10 florins per turn to over 1000 florins per turn depending on the skill of your merchant.

    Cheers!

PS The best resources in the game are in Timbuktu... especially because your Merchant is safe from other Merchants.

if you put merchants in an army and then put the army over a resource, do the merchants trade that resource (is it the same as building a fort over it?)?

They will trade the resource just like building a fort but, apparently, if you leave an army on its own for too long its loyalty will drop and it will eventually rebel. If that happens you lose your merchants as well.
