    Default MOST INFLUENTIAL ARTIST

MORBO demands you list the (musical) artists you feel were most influential in modern and old Earth Music. This music will perhaps be preserved when MORBO's people crush Earth once and for all!

MORBO will also engage in debate against your poor choices.

He just copied Old Zog from down the way though. Fair enough, he may not have totally realised what he was doing, silly old fool ate too much of that cave moss again.

    Duh.

Now I'd say that Mozart and Beethoven were very influental persons, even if maybe a bit more than they deserved.
Also Wagner, Schönberg, whoever invented Major/minor tonality, whoever invented polyphony, Shostakovich, some folks whose names I forgot (I apologise), the guys who invented Blues, and surely hundreds or thousands more so we can impossibly say who really were the most influental musicians (look, a witty response!!!1!!13).

Also, do we restrict ourselves to american/european music or de we include all world's music?

    Ahem, and:

Led Zepllin has influenced many-a artists, and is the standard to which many rock bands measure themself too.

The Fuzz presents MORBO with The Mars Volta. Fuzz has been listening to them often lately. They bring awesomeness and glory to modern music.

The Beatles/Rolling Stones helped to spawn the light radio rock, Led Zeppelin and Rush helped to spawn the harder rock that taps to subject matter a little more abstract and Black Sabbath pioneered the dark heavy intense sound so many artists today emulate, Nirvana and Pearl Jam helped to end the Hair Bands(thank the friggin gods) and bring pure emotion back into the mainstream. Picking up the pieces years later, Tool, the Mars Volta, King Crimson and Indukti are carrying the music scene to unparalleled heights.

The Beatles have overall, I think. But in the prog rock scene, I would have to go with King Crimson and Yes.

Ahh Frank Zappa and T.Monk....Such talent. Unfortunately talent is not always what gets exposed. And those two are classic examples of artists who are generally more appreciated by other artists and not so much mainstream listeners. Sadly.

Indeed, all named here were and are very influential, but you asked for the most influential, I think Robert Johnson is easily near the top.

Why would he be near the top? Every contemporary blues artist I listen to has been more influenced by Muddy Waters than Robert Johnson.

I thought Muddy Waters was influenced by Robert Johnson? Unless this is somehow the chicken and the egg thing all over again...

Either way, any of these old talents would do. Blind Lemon Jefferson, Otis Rush, Son House and everyone that influenced later rock bands that eventually trickled into every other kind of music.
