    Icon5 siege and character costs

    Hi!

I personally play a different mod (Stainless Steel that is), but I stepped over DLV and thought it's really promising. Well, downloaded and installed it for my brother whom I could finally convince to play the game again, but this time with a mod, making it more challenging!

All looks very good, interesting historical informations, nice popups and additions. But after turn 2 or 3, he is already in red numbers, which pisses him off!

Found out that it's a not-listed cost for units who across the border of your kingdom, e.g. sieging...

I would really liek to play this nmod as well, but this feature is rather annoing then interesting...Any solution or suggestion?

Turning it off would probably make you too rich too fast, but can I tune up some building for example, so you earn more money each turn? Or will this not be a probelm later on?

Money definitely isn't an issue later on in the game once you have taken a few other settlements and build up your economy. I would suggest that you and your brother read the DLV Handbook. It has everything you will need to know in order to prepare for things and make your strategies. Once you read this and start playing again you will start to just automatically subtract these 'hidden' costs.

The key to DLV is pacing your initial territorial expansion -- in Vanilla and some mods, you can send four units off to siege every castle and city within walking distance and win them all.

That's silly, so the DLV system forces you to take a more realistic approach to expansion, which allows the AI some lands and thus makes the challenge greater for both short and long term.
