Migration Campaigns
Has anybody ever attempted a migration campaign, where you relocate your faction far, far away?
I did and it was a quite interesting challenge.
My example:
Took Gauls, razed all my settlement buildings for cash then I set taxes to max and waited in Patavium.
Once it was the last settlement available I horded my faction and packed to...
India.
It was a gruesome trip along the greek, thracian, schythian, seleucid and baktrian lands with lots of interesting mercenaries and new enemies to fight.
In the end it took something like 20 years to really settle down, constantly besieged by baktrians until I finally managed to establish a gallic outpost on the edge of the known world.
Later on it becomes quite refreshing using your trusty naked fanatics against phalanx based armies supported by elephants, not to mention those pesky HA...
That said, have you ever attempted anything similar?

Re: Migration Campaigns
I've done Germany to Italy in Vanilla but never tried in XGM the barracks rebuilding is kind of limiting.

Re: Migration Campaigns
Well, that adds to the challenge and makes it a bit more realistic imho...
Germans can also horde so you can have the chance to get into interesting places with them as well (africa maybe?)...

Re: Migration Campaigns
I have tried such things twice - first i moved my roman empire straight to Byzantium. Rome was left for the rebels. It was quite hard since everybody jumped on me and the economy of having two cities was bad...
Second time i migrated with the gauls to Britain - that ended with disasster. The rebel stacks almost finnished me and 5 turns after i settled the germans started Zeelowe 0.8 beta, that was quite successful.

Re: Migration Campaigns
I've never tried in XGM, but I did one in vanilla where I packed up my stuff with Armenia, put my armies on boats, left 1 unit in the two starting cities, and took Byzantium and the Thracian capital. Then desbanded units in Armenia home and let them rebel. Worked quite well, actually. I eventually conquered Greece, Italy and Asia Minor and finally worked my way back to my homeland, then conquered that and Parthia. I stopped there 'cause I was bored.

Re: Migration Campaigns
Did the Macedon give everything to GCS for Perganum and Rhodes campaign start. Going well now own virtually all of Turkey except for the Pontics and took Tarsus last night. Got +15,000 per season income and two well hard stacks of troops.
The indie Guals took Pella from the GCS but it keeps rebelling back to me - they keep wasting their elite hordes re-taking it.
One day I will return to retake the homeland but after the usurpers (Selucids and Ptolomies) have been put to the sword, and Alexander's empire is again almost united.

Re: Migration Campaigns
In vanilla I successfully moved the Seleucids to England-to forever but was worth it in the end
