Sally forth is just attacking the enemy from your city that is besieged. Just click the army inside and attack the besieger. To make the time longer go to the strat.txt file in the imerial campaign folder in medieval II total war/data/maps/world/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_strat and change the time scale from 2.00 to 1.00. It will be twice as long but the events won't come for twice as long either. You might want to set it to 1.50
to make the turn limit in the campaign longer just get one of the many mods you find in the correct section!! honestly i can't play with 2 years/turn like vanilla just i can't see my leaders getting older than mathusalem in a couple of turns, i get soooo nervous :O)
my ideal turns are 6 months and 3 months like Brocken crescent or darth mod 1.4 or invasio barbarorum for RTW
30BC: Ottaviano Augusto becomes the first Imperator, in his 44 years of principate he will bring to the empire peace and prosperity!
70AD: Vespasiano is the winner of first great empire's civil war, rebuilding Roman world after the Nero's dark ages.
98AD: Traiano becomes imperator after that the senateman Nerva adopted him,he will start a gold age for the empire getting it to biggest extension!! 117AD-180AD Adriano,Antonino Pio and Marco Aurelio administrate the empire during his richest and most pacific period, with their good administration Rome lives its golden age.
193AD: Settimio Severo wins the civil war started after the death of Commodo starting the Severan dinasty, his heirs will not be as good as him. 252-285AD Rome lives the peak of III century's crisis, onli the emperor Aureliano will be able to reunite the empire breacked in 3 parts and the great reformer Diocleziano will give to Rome militar, politic and social cohesion after decades of caos. 325AD:Costantino rules alone over the empire and christianity is for the first time accepted by the imperial government.
Be careful. WHen you sally, you are betting that you can get a win or a draw. If you do not get one of these outcomes, you lose. If you lose, your entire stack dies or gets captured.
Considering the rate your characters age at, it is more realistic to set it to 0.5Sally forth is just attacking the enemy from your city that is besieged. 1.5 is good for gameplay, 0.5 is good for realism.. I don't mind BC's 0.5 at all though.![]()
nos ignoremus quid sit matura senectus, scire aevi meritum, non numerare decet
If you change the turns/year yourself it really unbalances the game, and gets incredibly boring fast.... I would second Traiano's comment about getting a mod if you want your game to go more slowly. They are completely rebalanced to work properly. Lusted's "Lands to Conquor" is the best "close to Vanilla" mod out there, and is very easy to install and play as a first mod. It aslo has a "Late Era" campaign start, so you can actually get to the Americas while it still has value to building your Empire. The AI is also significantly better then Vanilla, which makes the game a lot more fun!
Cheers!
