    Sorry to let you know that the Spartans "damn sure" had a basic ditch and pallisade as early as 43 years before our game starts (317 according to Justinian, 295 according to Pausanias).

    The stone road building represents more than a simple highway, it represents a province wide system of stone roads, which wasn't in place in 272.
