Well ive just played this campaign (as sicily as long as any I have ever remebered and I have never remebered having such a difficult time! THAT IS GOOD NEWS.
Im making this post here as opposed to the AAR as I consider it more of a tool for refining some things Ive found in the later game and to give a map for Repman to help him. (thank you for your work)
Generally, in vanilla and earlier versions, I steamroll everything and I think that is awful. Now, after almost 100 years gameplay, I am a bit strapped economically after a bad crusade and in turn, militarily. Things progressed somewhat historically on the campaign until recently (and except for the Sicilo-Normans flourishing).
The Moors almost overthrew the Iberian until the pope called a crusade to get Toledo back, France took it and then some. Recently, I just got my pope in office (took me 40 years?!?!!? never before took that long) and promptly Genoa and Venice dual declared war on me and not with just one ship blockading but a few besieges. This was of course while I had all my forces committed in the Egyptian crusade (One I actually had to abandon, another first).
Anyway, heres a few things, good and bad, Ive found going all the way to gunpowder,
-Mongols, As you can see by the map, they are being steamrolled by the Turks, They invaded and did almost nothing, still not aggressive enough.
-Armenians and lost homeland-I love the homeland pick up and leave thing, Georgia did it and resettled in the Crimea. Armenia did it in Cyprus, very cool, have yet to see a civ die yet.
-Navy, My navy almost rules supreme as I have yet to see an enemy navy with more than one ship. This is most likely due to the general thing, I like the expanded ship general, just wish the enemy could have some navy that was something to look at.
-Black Plague- It was great, and it hit me at my worst possible time, will be a looong recovery. I suggest it hitting harder as it was over relatively quickly but hit hard.
-Crashes at poland-hungary end turn - this happens only sometimes, when I reload a campaign and sometimes if I try again a few times I can get by it, never happens while Ive been playing awhile.
-New World - for some reason in like 1230 both england and france landed armies in the new world and captured 2 cities, they then were massacered.
Money-Used to be rich, now im struggling to keep above red after my disastrous adventure in Egpyt mixed with the Plague and the Italian confederation attack, This is good. Im paying for my bad assault in the East. I find the Muslim nations are more vicious and huge now and I love that, this is historically correct.
Events-I love em just we need more than just 4, I sometimes get like 3 at once and thats a bit absurd. Need to be more rare and varied and they will be an excellent addition. They remind me of EU 2 (ahhhhh perfect). I dont know if its possible, but maybe some more that may cause character death (child death?) or some more severe things. I do recall having a banquet and like 5 characters became sick.
Crusades and Jiahds - this has happened a few times. A faction makes an army for a jihad/crusade and they declare a ceasefire while the army is moving, the army keeps moving to its destination and sits in front of the city. This is especially frustrating right now as you can see by France in the first pic
If you have any questions for me please feel free to ask.
