Default Is my laptop at fault? (rome total war)

Okay playing online means you get to play games against other people. The more people the more fun and better it is, but I cannot play rome total war team games no longer, I recently got a new laptop and since then I have not been able to play team games online.

I am able to play 1v1 and 2v2(only if I host), but I cannot play 3v3 or 4v4, I know it is not my internet cause I was able to play team games on my old pc.

    Laptop specifications:

    160GB hard drive
    2048MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 Dimm)
nVidia GeForce 8400M GS with 128MM DDR dedicated graphics memory
    Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7300 ( 2 GHz)

any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    thanks in advance.

The spec of the laptop slaughters the requirements for Rome, my guess would be the drivers.
    Try updating your graphics drivers.

or if its new, I am guessing it has Vista on it... If so, Format, Install XP.

Yes it is vista, but I am using that as a last resort.

    Thanks

The other thing to look at is what else is running in the background i.e services. I used to use msconfig running from the start>run dialogue box. You would be amazed to see what is running on your PC.

You need to make sure that the services you disable can be disabled (i.e. they are not essential for windows to operate). Look up the processes using google before you do that.

I've been told about Advanced Windows Care (Personal). It is free and is able to report which services are runinng and provide details on what each service is. It will also help remove old internet files from your PC etc.

It can be found here: http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

its nothing to do with the specs unless its lagging, but more to do with your router. Many people seem to have problems with their router and Rome. I wrote a perfectly good solution to this problem here for router problems. although it might be a bit hard to follow. I am sure it will fix your problem...

PS vista is great once you turn off the silly extras that are there to help the idiots, so stop with the nay saying

If you're looking to end programs running in the background, download CCleaner. (ccleaner.com). You can remove stuff from the registry that eats RAM in the background (such as QuickTime's qttask). Just make sure you know what it is before you get rid of it.

I've used ccleaner as well, it removes way too much for my liking. But there is nothing wrong with the product.

What does it remove that you don't want removed? I never knew that anything it removed could be important.

If it's the history that you want kept, you can set it to leave the Internet cache.
