basically they have made a sonic laser bean that resonates a virus protien shell at 60ghz or something; and shatters its little body and basically destroys it.

if they refine the technology there could be some pretty interesting implications.

Mitochondria have a phospholipid bilayer covering, much like the cells they're in do, as such they don't have a protein shell to effect, though I don't doubt that it may have an adverse effect on other proteins, such as plasma proteins and transport proteins.

I am pretty sure thats the nature of the problem at the moment, figuring out a way to specifically target the viruses with the harmonics.
