Default Yet ANOTHER ridiculous religous issue...

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330642,00.html

KANSAS CITY, Mo — Kansas activities officials are investigating a religious school's refusal to let a female referee call a boys' high school basketball game.
The Kansas State High School Activities Association said referees reported that Michelle Campbell was preparing to officiate at St. Mary's Academy near Topeka on Feb. 2 when a school official insisted that Campbell could not call the game.
The reason given, according to the referees: Campbell, as a woman, could not be put in a position of authority over boys because of the academy's beliefs.
WTF is wrong with these people? I can't believe that people would actually believe this is in any way justifiable. I also can't believe that a school like this would even exist in the U.S. (outside of Utah )What do you guys think?

It reminds me of the thread where two elementary school boys were sentenced to one month jail time for butt slapping girls.

Religious School, it's probably private I'm not sure if that would allow them to do this even if their private. But I would think that Ms.Campbell would have been aware of this schools beliefs and would have realized this would happen. If it's public then she should win no doubt however if it's private I'm not sure how the law leans on that as I said above.

Yeah I remember those mother****ers. I even sent them a letter inviting them to come visit my school when I was in military school

I'm sure it's private, but even they are held to discrimination laws (I believe).

Religion is the top excuse for the most ridiculous and lasting actions of man on the face of the earth since it was invented. Why not deny a baseball game right now based solely on absolutely nothing serious for a sane mind?
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

The Bible does say that women should not have authority over men so why cant we have respect for real Christians who actually want to follow everything in the Bible instead of just paying lip service?

Regardless whether or not I agree with this issue I personally have great respect for these people for not being hypocrites.

It's funny how religious nuts have always been given a free ride during controversy because of their belief in God. If a Muslim school did the same thing to say, a Jewish referee, the media would be ALL OVER the story.

These people are just us bad. Just because they're white Christians doesn't mean they should get a free pass.

Really? I was just making my case of how we should not tolerate certain things just because people label them as "individual belief". Especially when they carry the implicit meaning that women are inferior to men, a contradiction to the moral basis of a democratic and egalitarian regime.

My deceased Grandparents belonged to this break away catholic sect. Their religion made them mean in their old age.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

More often than not, they do. Just look at that Kansas school that suspended a girl because she was atheist.

But this was on the front page of several news websites. How have they "gotten a free pass"? How have they been criticized or reported less because they are "White Christians"?

Um.....because this issue has been given the exact same amount of attention that a comparable issue involving Muslims has gotten.

I doubt it; This is just some quirky Fox story. If it were Muslims denying the a woman to be in a position of power, it would have been everywhere.
