Default RS 1.5a (Sprite Patch) available

The new installer is now available:

    http://twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=65725

    Main changes:

    - All old sprites are removed, replaced with new accurate sprites for all units
    - Fixed missing unit/unit info cards for Borporus deces and corvus ships
    - Fixed priest/priestess pictures not displaying for some priests/priestesses
    - Some AoR fixes
    - Unit stat tweaks
    - Adjustments to happiness and law bonuses
    - Some 'value added' to buldings that didn't give bonuses outside homelands
    - In game text corrections
    - Faction specific battlemap/stratmap advisors (taken from BI/Alex)
    - Blacksmith weapon/armour bonus now requires iron

Probably some other stuff as well, but can't think of any more at the moment. The main installer thread has also been udpated.

This should be installed over either a clean 1.5/1.6 install or over an existing RS1.5 install (a clean 1.5/1.6 is recommended). The patch should be save game compatible.

8:14 MST, didn't quite make it before GMT, but still made it today in North America.

I would like to play my friend. But due to me changing some files a little I cannot play online. I'm staying up all night to play this game.

    Sorry mate.

I just want to get it right the first time. I just have a clean RTW 1.5, and install the new installer. And that's it.

    Is it save-game compatible?

No, this overwrites that one, and is in fact a full version of RS 1.5a, no other installs are needed if you are re-installing RS.

Ok thanks, sorry for the question, it was late at night when I read.

Default Certainly much more than a sprite pack! :)

I was very thrilled to load this into a current campaign as Rome ~ 500 avc.

I immediately noticed that most of my cities were suddenly at 50% (or less) happiness! Yikes!

I decided to start a new campaign anyway, since I wanted to take advantage of the republican legion II and III units that were not fully available due to AOR stuff previous to this patch.

I'm now wondering what fun I missed out on by not playing it out -- I unfortunately wiped my saved game

--But not before I looked around -->

Is the AOR for republican Legion I really supposed to be on the northern end of Sicily? Syracuse itself is Legion II (or III, can't remember), but the two cities north of it are Legion I. Wierd!

Yes, the same has happened to me as well. Even settlements that were 'green' before are now very unhappy.

I try and make sure that I build all the happy buildings as well.

Yikes! Yeah the happiness thing looks to be a killer on existing campaigns. I have 3 campaigns running, Rome 479 AUC, Iberia 523 AUC, and Carthage 520 AUC. Only the Roman campaign looks salvagable...both Iberia and Carthage are all red and blue, mostly red...each empire has only one green city. Rome actually looks ok since its so new (haven't got into northern Italy yet or Sicily) but they still had 2 blue cities out of my 8 territories. Looks like this will slow expansion alot

Looks like a good time to finally reformat my PC (virus and such won't let me change files in harddrive) so I can enjoy RS1.5a!

It's no longer possible to 'exterminate' a settlement..... (I didn't do that all the time, honestly. Just when it was a different culture e.g. barbarian.)

It is 'technically' what you are doing with the last button, but i changed the text to read differently (thought I had already done it before, but missed it). The thing is that 'extermination' was very rarely practiced by any nation.....on occasion, if the people had really pissed someone off.....but it was not common practice. So I changed the text to read 'relocation', or that you are driving the people out of the city. It just makes sense, and you don't start feeling like a murderer.

Also, yes, the happiness issue has changed a lot, and will cause some difficulties in existing campaigns. I don't and never have liked 150-300% happiness in cities, because it's just plain ridiculous. 100% would be a miracle anywhere, anytime. Your capitals will be happier, and your homelands, but you'll have to work at it outside your own territories.
I also gave small bonuses (or better) to any building that didn't provide a bonus outside your own lands, so nearly everything has some bonus except military buildings. So if you build them and are nice to your people, you'll be Ok.

thanks for some goodies including praetorians going from 62 to 82..
    that was pretty cool.

didnt appreciate the upkeep rise in light auxilia infantry, or should consider adding a 'garrison thrash unit' for the romans.. as roman light infantry does not exist after reforms.

i was surprised to see my entire empire in red faces upon loading but a quick review changed all that, now i'll have to actually recruit governors.

also why is legionary cavalry's weapon type: light?
