Is it just me or atleast twice a month some guy comes and pretty much spams about how "good" Roma Victor is, despite another thread on the same page.
Strange.....
Indeed.
I was in the BETA and was extremely disappointed in it.
It was simply not playable.
I heard that there are minor improvements being made from time to time.
I tried playing again a few days ago and discovered that they have finally added roads to the game, very nice and then 5 minutes later the game crashed which was very common during the beta as well.
This game is pretty much a failure.
If you read what they had in mind from the begining and see the actual game you do get very disappointed.
Their greatest accomplishment was that they crucifided a spawn killer.
I bought some sesterces (in-game currency) for this game and was at first impression very dissapointed. I chose to play as a roman, the problem being I began as a slave (lame, huh). What's even worse, is that you have to complete a series of tasks for your "master" in order to "earn" your freedom. These tasks include everything from building a hut to bringing water from the river. I played this game for weeks and never finished these tasks, simply because I would be building on my hut, only to find out the next day that it had been vandalized (most likely from weather conditions).
They introduce a "clever" system by avoiding a subscription fee, and instead implement a system where you may purchase in-game currency for real dollars. The problem is, this only means that the company has a direct control of how much you will be paying. Let's say for example, I buy a sword (basically using real dollars), eventually this sword will rust and lose durability - forcing me to further pay in order to have it repaired or replaced.
Actually, even when you complete the missions for your master, you still won't be free.
For barbarians completing the missions will make you "free" but for a roman you have a long road ahead of you. You need to master around 6-7 skills and have a certain amount of money in order for you to lose your slave status.
It was one of the things I noticed during the beta and complained alot to the devs about.
They said that you wouldn't have to buy money in order to have fun in the game. Buying money would be more for people who want to live in luxury.
This turned out to be false. In order to have any type of fun you need to buy money.
Can't say I blame him.Ah yes, Cynewulf....I remember him. He quit a few months ago though.
This game promised alot and delivered none.
Finally! Someone else who enjoys the game as much as I do.
Yes I play Roma Victor quite often, I even run my own guild now, called Regnum Pontii. My character's full name is Gallus Dalmatius Pontius, but you could just call me Dalmatius. I currently live in Smudan with the rest of my guildmates, and I'm still recruiting, so if you want to join it, register on our forum, and post on recruitment thread.

I think the game just needs more advertisement in order to take off to be somthing realy great ive been playing for like 2 weeks now
Actually I would say that they need to fire the entire dev team.
Either that or redo the whole game.
Sorry but no amount of advertisement will make this game big.
If anyone would be stupid enough to fall for it they will see a buggy, rough and complicated beyond reason game that has failed to live up to it's word with a dev team that refuse to admit it.
I've got to agree with TB666 on this one.
pilum throwing and bow/arrows will be added soon. this'll make PvP alot more interesting.
"It's not always possible to do what we want to do, but it's important to believe in something before you actually do it"
Well if it will be anything like in the BETA then no, it won't make it interesting.
It worked like crap during the beta.
there was no player collision in beta. there is now. theres very little lag these days.
"It's not always possible to do what we want to do, but it's important to believe in something before you actually do it"
The javelin, spear throwing, and archery skills are coming very soon you know. The devs have it 90% done or so.Not sure why that has any point when it comes to pilum throwing not working.![]()
And we had those during the beta(well not archery) as well as I stated before which you ignored.
I wouldn't trust the devs one bit since their definition of "done" is that it is in the game but may or may not work as intended.
In this case it seems that instead of fixing it, they removed it instead, I guess only given access to people on the primary test team(the same guys that share around 35% of the guilt of this game being the total failure that it is, the rest is on the devs not listening to the their testers.)
Many times I wondered during the beta phase what the point was of having a beta test if they had no intention of using and listening to the beta testers.
I plan on buying another account so that I can make a second character. Any suggestions on which type of character I should roleplay with my alternate account? A Pictish hunter? A Christian Jew? A Germanic warrior? A Roman-Italic architect? A Greek or Spartan mercenary?
The possibilities are almost endless there. I'd appreciate any recommendations.
P.S. TB666, maybe your attitude on this game will change if you reroll your character, and join the Caledonians to the north? Or even my guild, Regnum Pontii? I think you've had enough of the usual Corstopitum lag and crashing. Just join a good guild, and you'll like the game a little more.

Actually I did both barbarian and Roman in the beta.
But no, my attitude towards this game won't change since the whole exprience was a frustrating one.
My biggest regret was that I was stupid enough to purchase an account even tho the beta was terrible.
And I refuse to buy in-game money.
These game devs doesn't deserve one cent of anyone's money.
Does anyone else have any input for me when I create a new character? What kind of character should I roleplay?
