    Default Adding Muslim Archer to Spain and Portugal

    I searched the subject but could not find detailed instructions to finalize the project.

    I made the changes in the descr-unit and descr_building by copying the info from Sicily.

    Can someone tell me which other files have to change to make it work?

    Please be detailed, since I am not an expert in this yet.

    All you have to do is add the names of the factions you want next to sicily in the EDU and EDB like you have

    then add the UI cards to spain and portugal. (medieval II total war/data/ui)

    copy and paste the tga files in the sicily folders to spain and portugal. The ui files you need are in the unit and unit_info folder inside the ui folder

    However, you'll also have to edit the modelsdb file since Spain and Portugal - I think - do not have texture entries under the Muslim Archers entry.


    If you don't, then you'll have Muslim Archers for Spain and Portugal yes, but they'll probably be invisible.

    From what I've seen in the game, it will use the textures from sicily. I've added units like above and they were fine.

    ammo24: I got everything in.

    I forgot to tell you that I was trying to add this unit to spain and portugal in KK's SS Mod. I made the changes in SS/desr_unit and SS/buildings.

    The SS/unit_info does not contain a muslim archer tga. I made the tga changes in the Kingdom folder because in SS/tga there is no tga for the Muslim Archer.

    Result: In SS - The "Practice Range" can produce Muslim Archer; however, the unit card is a peasant with a sword in his hand. The unit is invincible on the battle map.

    What do I have to change to make it work?
    Do I have to make the changes in Kingdom/descr_building and descr_unit as well? Would this alter the unit card also?

    Additions are made in bold. It should be noted that these units will use the Sicilian textures. This is because there are no spain/portugal textures for this model.

    And to make it so that the Muslim Archers for Spain/Portugal are not given peasant unit cards, you'll have to copy the muslim_archers_info.tga in the data/ui/unit_info/sicily folder and #muslim_archers.tga in the data/ui/units/sicily folder into their parallel folders for spain and portugal.

    I decided to do Portugal first - what needs to be excluded from your table.

    Copied the MA information in "ui/unit_info" and "ui/units" from Sicily to Portugal

    I have not made changes in the table suggested by DisgruntledGoat; I could not find it - where is it?

    Result: The unit card is still a peasant. The unit is still invisible on battle map.

    I guess, I need more help. Sorry, for all this.

    Your grandson wants Muslim Archers in his roster? He has good taste.

    DisgruntledGoat's entry suggestion is to be made in the data\unit_models folder. Inside is a unique blue-themed text file known as the infamous battle_models.db file.

    In this file, CTRL + F for "23 sicilian_muslim_archers" and edit the entry you find according to DG's suggestions (the bolded parts are all the parts you need to enter).

    Sorry, Gentlemen, it did not work - CDs; must have made a mistake along the changes.

    I do not know want went wrong. Perhaps, the combination Vanilla/SS Mod got me confused. I give up, since I can not determine what is wrong. I guess, my age is creeping up on me.
