Default The Media Favors Two Presidential Candidates

For the first time in recent history both conservatives and liberals as well as moderates have come together to condemn the media. New anchors, most notably Lou Dobbs, have actually criticized the media for over hyping certain candidates at different times in the election.

    To the Democrats....

Even in many online polls which are dominated by Obama supporters 30% of people on an AOL poll voted that Obama is doing well because of the media(the most voted option). Even on this site Obama supporters have admitted the media favors him. When commentators look back at debates they ignore when Hilary does well. At the California debate Wolf Blitzer exposed Obama was lieing about Hilary and then Hilary responded well and got some of the loudest applause of the night yet, that was never covered.

    Now to the Republicans....

For some reason the media claims Mike Huckabee is a serious threat to John McCain. Honestly, he isnt yet, ever since Iowa the media has loved Huckabee. They have made it seem that even if McCain wins the nomination his party will not back him(which is doubtful). Also, the media made Romney look like some sort of monster when he got into a fight with a journalist. However, the journalist made up lies and was spreading them on tv. Plus, Romney wasnt even that mean.

So in general it seems that the media favors Huckabee and Obama. Though I used to laugh at conservatives for saying this I now agree that the media is biased. Its sad that not one news station talks equally well about all the candidates.

I would give you rep if I could. Yes Obama certainly has gotten easy treatment from the media. The man is almost entirely without substance and gives wonderful speeches in which he says absolutely nothing. And I never see him called on it.

I'd disagree that the media is hyping Huckabee, but rather they just don't have a whole lot to talk about on the republican side for right now. Romney was treated kinda shabby. he certainly was aggressive, but he was always on the issues and was not making personal attacks.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

I agree with you too and if I could I would rep you.

I think because there is nothing to talk about on the Republican side they favor Huckabee just to cause trouble.

The Huckabee thing you are absolutely right on. His fame and love by the media is based soley on no one knew who he was really and he didnt have much money. Romney produced more delegates then Huckabee but yet all the media talked about was him Obama its true there has been a little love affair going but I think its based far more on how he presents himself as this energetic figure. Hell look at yesterday with the VA race, CNN was going on and on how Huckabee was making a run for it and Mccain was struggling...despite the fact the guy with the big screen was showing the vote totals at the time and the results from entire eastern end of the state (where the population is) wasnt in yet. Mccain won 50% to 41%...in a race between two people Im not sure how how 11% is anywhere remotely close. Meanwhile Mccain was beating up on Huckabee in Maryland but it was all about Huckabee needs to be taken seriously, the Republican party is divided etc. The media just loves their drama, hell they are probably giddy with the prospect of Democratic nomination being taken all the way to the convention to decide.

The media is definitely in the bag for Obama, I would hazzard a guess that if Obama does get the Democrat nomination, close to 90% of the reporters who are covering the race will vote for him.

That being said he a very affable guy and its hard not to like him. Maybe he's very forth coming with the media, in terms answering questions and suppling them with juicy quotes and what not.

I don't agree with you on Huckabee though. I believe the media are somewhat indifferent to Huckabee, especially when he hasn't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting the GOP nomination. On the other hand if he was the front runner and had the support of "Right Wing Talk Radio" he wold be skewered by the lame street media.

It seems to me in general McCain gets the preferential treatment in the race for Republican nomination. Although it's not to the same extent that it was in 2000, when the straight talk express was defiantly the media darling.

The media is a very powerful political tool, Blair was successful back in 1997
because he managed to get the loyalty of Rupert Murdoch and his Behemoth News Corps.

It is interesting that the media always talks about how bipartisan Obama is yet, barely mentions that he technically is the most liberal senator in America.

I think they used to be more pro-Huckabee but they still give him special attention. They made it seem like Huckabee would win Virginia which is ridiculous since he ended up losing by 9%.

the media doesnt favor obama, its just that obama wrote a book about his life and already got all his cards on the table; plus there is nothing bad that can be said about the man

The media favors whichever candidate receives the most viewer's count.

Appearantly Obama and Huckabucka drives more people to the tube than McCain or Hillary.

Always look for the most simple answer before we go bogging down into complex explanations.

The media depends on the number of viewers and trying to gain popularity among the rest of the channels.

That's why I keep telling people, that the so called "news channels" are first and foremost for entertainment , then a reporting news channel.

    In that order.

Belgian media seems on the hands of Obama, mainly. The republican primaries get little attention, papers have already called McCain the definite Republican candidate.
