Best Star Wars Lightsaber Duel

What do you guys think was the Best Star Wars Lightsaber Duel?

I say Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon (aka Duel of the Fates). Sweet venue, first appearance of duel-saber, imo the best lightsaber choregraphy, a jedi and a sith get killed (one stabbed, one cut in half), little use of force powers to take away from the action.

If you're wondering why I left out Greivous vs Obi-Wan, it's because that wasnt even a real duel.

Not for skill or flashy effects but for the emotion. When the chorus kicks in I get chills.

Luke flashes to the dark side, and just after he cuts off Darth's hand he comes back.

I chose Yoda vs. The Emperor. It is just the perfect good vs evil duel I like, and I love the ending.

Obi-wan vs Vader is a close 2nd though, not for the action, but for the the conversation and Obi-wan's demeanor during the fight.

I was stuck between Luke v Vader @ Cloud City

or

Death Star Luke v Vader.

I chose RotJ because i thought it was more emotional although nothing beats the "I am your father" twist during V

Windu versus Sidious wasnt really that much of a duel. The Dark lord easily slaughters 3 Jedi 'masters' and then appears to get bested by Windu. Doesent really compare to any other of the duels. Plus I have a personal grudge against how Mace died. It was pretty weak.

The Anakin vs Obi Wan duel had very good, emotional dialogue (at least for Obi-Wan), but the fight itself felt clumsy and uninspired. The scenery had more of an impact on the battle than the duelists.

You're right about the duel thing but you can say pretty much the same from Vader vs Ben kenobi in Anew Hope it lasted like 5 seconds and then bam Ben is "dead"

Pretty much the Dark side can use the force in more violent sinister ways. But then again, that didnt stop Mace Windu from using the force to crush General Greivous' chest cavity (explains the coughing in Ep 3) during the Clone Wars. If you'veread up on the expanded universe, watched the Clone Wars animated shorts or played the KOTOR games, there is a hell of a lot more force users can do than presented in the movies.

Luke vs. Vader in RotJ for the same exact reasons Boeing said; I get the chills too. A close second would be the Phantom Menace. In and of itself it is the best fight, but doesn't have the same emotion as Luke vs. Vader.

A friend and I went into Zellers in the 80's. This was when 'hazardous toys' were only 'haphazardly' inspected and they had the telescoping lightsabers that you had to flick, rather violently, to extend. We checked to make sure there were no store honey's patrolling about with their store aprons on, then went to town, chasing each other up and down the aisles, wacking each other on the ass and knocking over displays. We finally got chased out of Zellars.
That was THE best lightsaber duel in history.

I have to say the battle in Empire Strikes Back. It has the emotion and it ends with probably the most known line in movie history. I never really liked the battles in The Revenge of The Sith or Attack of THe Clones

Obi vs Anakin in ROTS...its just a great fight spanning across most of the complex, onto floating rocks in lava all while the cool music is going on. Its one of the few redeaming factors of the prequel trilogy...though Id have prefered something better than "i hate you" after getting your legs cut off and lava burning you.

Well since none of the Ep1-3 movies had any redeeming qualities I had to go with the classic Cloud City duel between Luke and Vader.

Meh, it's a lot of close ups of flurry lightsabers in the dark going back and forth. I didn't find anything overly exciting about it.

Stylistically, the Phantom Menace has the best lightsaber duel accompanied by great dramatic music. Truly the only good thing about this mediocre episode.

Darth Maul prooves that Light Side Jedis are a bunch of sissies. He had Obi and his boytoy positively owned, only to be defeated by a low down dirty trick.

Obi Wan vs. Anakin/Vader in RotS. I think that they put so much effort into choreographing that, and its a great duel. I think Ewan McGregor's passion during his last speech, when Anakin is burning, is fantastic, and their facial expressions throughout really suit their characters to a T. Fantastic duel.
