How to use Cossaks

can someone give me a good battle plan to use cossak musketeers. im not really sure how exactly to do it without Pikemen like western factions. thanks

What you should do is:
Line up all the musketeers in a long thin line with infantry right behind them, then when the enemy comes near (if you have skirmish mode on) the musketeers will retreat behind the infantry and therefore they are safe.

Basically, do this.

Although i like to keep my missile troops off skirmish mode, and manually tell them to run back through my infantry.

Otherwise the AI can mean your cossaks get caught out in the rain, so to speak.

Well just use them in combo with the spearman, schiltrom, they will shoot between those units. The cos musketeer has such a huge range that you can scare em off before they even get to you. Besides they have a decent melee attack too.

On high ground Cossacks have an immense advantage and with their long range they own other musketeers but keep them away from Horse Archers.

I generally keep my cavalry close by on the flank opposing his cav. If I see his cav start to charge I'll intercept them with my cav and let my gunners continue to fire into them.

recruit cossacks and an other cheap melee units only. both on an biblical scale

1. line up all cossacks in a 3-man deep formation (you may stack them if you are on a hillside)
2.take the cheap infantry and put them in a spread formation, in a line around or in front of your cossi's (the spread formation is much like a net they slow down enemies incredibly)
3. when the enemy engages them they will stop and deal with the light infantry, and thats when you unleash hell on them with muskets ({ enjoy!

If you have lots put them in a line like everyone else has said, if you only have 4-6 companies put them on your flanks to rake across the enemy - huge casualties.

simply give them order stay on one place, so they will not run but shot
5-10 cossacks swip away any army + long range
poore littel horse archers .... ))) they make them sick ) and hurt them

Cossack Musketeers are Cav killers, always order a unit of cos to shoot at the enemyunit you want, dont let them fire like they want. It gives more effect if you carefully give every cosunit his target.
