    Default Best Maiden song..

Ok whats your top 5 Maiden songs...for me

    1. Prowler <- just a great pre Bruce song
    2. To Tame a Land <- was actually first Maiden song ever heard
    3. Hallowed Be Thy Name <- great guitar work, "life down here is just a strange illusion"..just overall great theme for the song
    4. Fear of the Dark <- one of the weakest album (No Prayer being the worst, I prefer to forget they ever released that) releases but the song pretty much makes up for it
    5. The Longest Day <- post Bruce return, flat out one of their best songs ever, epic

Alot of other songs could make it and other then Hallowed my top 5 has shifted alot over the years and will probably continued to be.

I really like Hallowed Be Thy Name and Fear of The Dark. They are one of their best. I also love Wasted Years and Running Free. I love the refrain of Man On The Egde but otherwise I think its rather weak

Well the responses just highlight Maiden's greatness since there are very few songs people agree on since they have produced so many great ones Looks like Rhyme and Hallowed are the only reoccurring one...if only I could convince wife that a 14 min epic song about Coleridge's poem is a good thing....

Glad to see Prowler and pre Dickerson Maiden get some respect. I mean Maiden will always be Bruce but the more raw/rough vocals with DiAnno were great in their own right.

Wasn't "To tame a Land" based on Dune by Frank Herbert? Great subject matter, shame about the song. I've always seen it as a bit of a filler track.

"Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" would get my vote, as it pretty much encapsulates everything thats good about Maiden in one song.

Yep supposedly they wanted to name it Dune and asked permission but Herbert rejected it because he hated "rock bands especially bands like Iron Maiden"...dunno if that is true and sounds more like an urban myth but still funny.

Probably true Iron Maiden wasn't that big back in those days besides the guy acted like a prick for nothing
