Default Noob Question On unit size

    Hey all

I have been playing MTW2 for a long time now an I have always wondered how to make your unit sizes larger for example when I play as england an make a unit of spear men there are 75 men in the unit but I have noticed that alot of people for some reason have 120 men in a spear men unit

how do they do this ?? I have tried dragging two of the same unit together but all it does is top the one unit up to 75

It is simple, go to Game settings in the same page where you can access Video and Audio settings (settings menu in the main menu). After you click on it, you should get a roll-out bar with "Normal" unit sizes on it, click it and click Huge unit settings for 150 per spearmen unit, 120 I think is large.

    Personally I use huge.

By the way some questions on the matter:

    1. when using "huge" the ballista/Catapults/cannons (etc) units are also larger in size?.

    2. is it possible to mod the size , ie., I mean is it possible to have yet larger units in size with some mod? (yet bigger than "huge")

    3. and is it possible to have less slot for units for each army?

I should like to have bigger units in size but less units in each army (the same for the AI obviously). I was wondering if this way we can have bigger battles with huge units but more easy to manage because in the end will be "less" units to command. Or perhaps some mod already have these modifications?

    Thanks in any advice!

    1. If you go to a larger unit setting only the number of men in artillery units will change, not the amount of artillery pieces. On huge setting you will have lots of useless bystanders watching 6 guys operate the ballistas.

    2. There is a limit to this, I think it's 250.

    Thanks pwijnands!

About the question 1, seems that is possible to mod it (rise the number of the artillery units itself - not only the soldiers - in the EDU.txt) as miccofl replied above??:hmmm:

Answer to 1 and 2 is yes, 3 is no.

To change the size of the base units you need to edit the export_descr_unit.txt file in the Data folder, a brief description of how the file works is at the beginning (not sure as to the upper limit.) I must say that modding the trebuchets so there are 5 engines instead of two generates some spectacular effects but unless you nerf them a little they are just too powerful. I would not recommend doing this to trebs or cav unless you have a high end system but you shouldn't have much trouble with infantry units.
