I have never cried in any movie but there were 2 movies that brought a tear to my eye. One of them was Gladiator, the other was A.I. by Steven Spielberg.

There is much criticism against the ending, to be honest, I also thought it was kinda weird but I didnt hate it either.

Here is a great review. (may have critical spoilers on the comments section)
    And the teaser trailer

Any thought on this cyberpunk flick?

i cried at the end i thought it was amazingly emotional and quite brilliant. i think it portrayed the boys love so perfectly that the fact he was a robot was not an issue, i honestly don't think i have seen love portrayed better.

Thought it was a great movie in large part because Spielberg definately made it Kubrick-like considering it was suppose to be his movie but died before it started. Only problem was I absolutely hated that kid Osment or whatever, he just annoys me but the movie itself was great imo. The ending was fitting and I thought very good.

Super-Toys last all summer long. A discourse into the essence of individuality, love and Pinnochio - brutally massacred by Spielberg. If only Kubrick could have directed it himself - his style would have suited the story so much more than Spielberg. To me the whole charade seemed so pale to what it could have been. It was quite tedious sitting there till the end in the misplaced hope that it might work.
I'm glad some others got something out of it though. Whatever he was doing missed me by a country mile.

Danzig, I'm not sure if I agree with the Kubrick part... I thought this was totally Spielberg's thing and I barely felt kubrick's sci-fi feel to it. I wonder how different it would turn up if he could have been involved in the production.
And what's up with Osment? He's like the best child actor alive.

Edit- Umma beat me to it about the kubrick thing.

Well I mean the unevenness of the movie as being Kubrick like. There is a certain "wierdness" to some of the scenes that are (obviously imo) homage to Kubrick's style. And dunno I mean Osment was obviously talented but he just annoyed me *edit* man looked up his imdb profile now...damn puberty was NOT kind to him hope he saved his money as a child actor...yes I know mean.

Could be worse, he'd fit well into the '70s.
Now how 'bout young Anakin Skywalker, that's what I call "not kind".

i do agree though about the kid, i really hate all what i call 'disney kids'. i think there is something about any young kid that makes them aware enough to act profesionally that is just not normal in a child and makes them really really irritating. the kid from phantom menace was awful.

true disney kids have the awful 90s disney kid hair cut. its like a bowl haircut except the bowl has been tilted to make it longer at the back but you still get the nice bowl flat cut edges alround.

osment has quite a chubby face for someone 19 but on his IMDB profile if you click on the far right picture he actually looks pretty good, i think a lot of girls would find him attractive in that pic.

Forget about the kid, this film has more to do with than some lame child 'actor'. It's more about how someone massacred a book and failed to copy another director's style.

The film would have been much better if it ended at the point where the kid is underwater, face to face with the blue fairy. Roll credits, end of..... a nice unhappy ending.
All of that Alien/evolved robot cheesefest shite at the end was uncalled for.
