    Welcome Strategos

Im glad youve enjoyed RTR. Have you tried TIC yet? If you have some more info on antiquitian Greece you could try posting in the Trivia thread. Its the place to post your interesting facts/trivia about the factions in RTR and I'd be pleased to read/learn more.

    Welcome to the forum.

You can easily make the change yourself:

If you have RTRPE, mod-folder version:
Go to: Rome - Total War\RTRPE\Data\test\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt

There you look for the city which is spelled wrong and change the entry which is NOT in the curly brackets.

If you dont have the mod-switch version, then just leave out the RTRPE part in the above described path.

The thread for The Iberian Conflict (TIC) is is at the top of the RTR forums page. TIC is basically...

-A detailed "mini-campaign" that takes you through Hamilcars conquests in Iberia
-A preview of the work done for RTR VII
-A generation ahead of RTR PE in terms of modding
-The best scripted mod I've played for RTW

I'm afraid I cannot agree with you, Greek strategos - the name of the city in Antiquity was Hierapytna, not Hierapetra (which is a more recent name).

If you see on this coin, the name is given as "IERAPYNI<ON>"

Moreover, to give but one example from epigraphy, see this inscription, where it is clearly recorded "edoxen Hierapytnion tois kosmois kai toi damoi ktl."

You can find further proof if you consult any good atlas of the Ancient World (I personally recommend "Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World")

Hi.....Khshayathiya....First of all thanks for the interesting images and information... I like very much to chat about History so.....Crete around the ages come to the hands of many different civilizations completely or in small parts....In ancient Greek local people language the word pytna or pytni means rock...as i know and in modern greek petra....and the city (Holyrock)... (Hierapetra) because of a certain momument from the very ancient times....Maybe in a period of time both words were used to name the city....But as all other city states of Greece of that era in the game are named with the more recent and not the very ancient or the most famous names like Sparta which in that era was named Lacedaimona...so as a Greek i think that Hierapetra is the right name for the city as refer to a Hellenic city...and because the most citys in the game have the most weell-known names....not the local people launguage names....Thank you again for the interesting chat.....

And i would also like to tell you that you are right about the name....it was used but almost only the specific city's residents used that word very localy...... in other places of Crete they also called it Garapetra or Geraptera in 280.BC also and in ancient Greece Hierapetra....... so as i already mention the most famous name to the world and to other civilizations for this location is this(Hierapetra).....Thank you again and i would like to hear more from you because i can unerstand that you like history matters....like i do......

    Hi Greek Strategos!!

First, I wish you a warm welcome to our forums!
Second, I hope that you'll keep enjoying RTR as you have said in your first post. I strongly recommend to download the latest release: Rome Total Realism VII- The Iberian Conflict v1.0 - the general thought of it have been really positive (most of the fans adore the 'mini'-campaign).

Nice to see that still new people are joining these boards!

    Cura ut Valeas,

I will probably check the new mini mod in the next days i hope.... but i already know that it will be an new great experience as the previous.....because i can understand that people here have real love and passion for that they are doing....and the most important they are true gamers like us not fat, rich developers of a company doing this for money....See you.....Thanks again....
