    Jimmy Page.

Freebird solo is ****. There is absolutely no melody whatsoever.

As for my favourite "kick-ass" solo, there are a few

War Pigs - Black Sabbath (cheers Cúchulainn. I love that last solo he does in the harmonic minour.)
    Dear Mr. Fantasy - Traffic

    Crossroads - Cream

Tales of Brave Ulysses - Cream (well....the whole song, really)

Child in Time - Deep Purple (Blackmore blows Page away)

Bold As Love - Jimi Hendrix (paired with Mitch Mitchell's extraordinarily good flanged drumroll, Jimi's flanged solo in the coda is my favourite of his. not to mention the lyrics are great too)

And an unusual one for guitar solo threads, but I am enchanted by the George Harrison's solo on one of my favourite Beatles songs: "Happiness is a Warm Gun". It's so menacing

And to finish it off, Jimmy Page's best. Ever. Even if he was ****ed up on heroin. Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin

I can't stand the song Freebird. The main part of the song is mind-numbingly boring, and the solo had no melody at all.
