    Default RS Library Coffeehouse

This idea of a place were RS fans can just sit and talk about their interests, their hobby's and their real lives is from the "EB Tavern" started in the org forum by Bootsiuv.
But i decided to make this place a more civilized place than a tavern.
In times of old, coffeehouses were places where artisans, musicians, businessmen, diplomats, and common folk gathered to share ideas, enjoy in-house roasted coffee, home-cooked meals, fresh-baked goods and pastries. And to relax and enjoy the company of friends.
So come in and tell us about yourselves, have a cup of coffee, maybe some donuts, and share your thoughts.

    I'll go first.
My name is Ciprian, I'm from Romania, and I'm 29 years old. I am a PR manager at a consultancy firm. I have been a history addict for as long as i can remember. I am an avid reader (i usually read 2-3 books at a time). The last 3 books that i have read were: Tom Holland's "Rubicon", René Grousset - "Histoire des croisades et du royaume franc de Jérusalem" and "Charlemagne: Father of a Continent" by Alessandro Barbero and Allan Cameron.

No but my name is Eli and I'm almost 15. I live out in the middle of nowhere literaly 45 miles from the nearest town, since I live so far away from the nearest public school i'm home schooled. I currently work at a nearby ranch run by 2 Indians. Like the above 2 I love to read, especialy fantasy and sci-fi, some of my favorite authors are Tad Williams, Angus Wells, David Gemmel and of course J.R.R.Tolkien. In my free time I usually play guitar or RS or XGM.

So that pretty much sums my life up.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

Cool! I was home schooled (despite living in a large city) as well, K-12 lol. The bad part of it was I am no good at science, but I know more history than my professors did (hence of course getting c's and d's from rather irate doctors).

My name is Kyle, I am 21 and a draftsman (Auto CAD) for a civil engineering firm. I am also a sucker for history, love a glass of Sam Adam's after work and am currently reading the Simon Scarrow books courtesy of blackshamrock. My interests in history span from Biblical times to WW2, though Roman era and Dark ages are my favorite, followed closely by Napoleon's era and the American Revolution. I'm very much into politics (not as a politician, but a concerned citizen), and overall just a deep-rooted Irish American... My free time is spent fiddling with my own mods, playing RS and N2 TW.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

Hey, I'm Jimmy, and I live in New Zealand, way down at the bottom of the world. I am absolutely a history freak, withe my "expertise" mainly centered around the Roman era and the two World Wars. At school, I've always come 1st in history classes. My school teaches Latin also, which helps enhance my Roman knowledge. I also play violin and piano, and enjoy chess. Like both of you before me, I read a lot too. I basically like any books relating to some sort of historical event or person. I'm currently going through Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series.

@ciprianrusu: I also just read the "Rubicon" by Tom Holland a few weeks ago. Good book eh?

Yeah. One of the best i have read about this subject.

One thing i forgot to mention about me is that i am married and i have a 12 weeks old baby girl, named Vanesa, so i don't have as much time to play RS anymore.

@century x: If you like Napoleon Bonaparte so much, i would recommend you the book "The Battle : A New History Of Waterloo" by Alessandro Barbero.

I'm Siavash. I live Miami, Florida and i'm 18 years old. I'm a fanatic of Rome total war, ac/dc and Especially Star Wars. I've been playing guitar since I was ten years old and I've been playing Rome total war since the day it came out. I'm also an avid reader of history books and I also read alot about my ideal Napoleon Bonaparte. I read about his life and his military genius and how he applied this to his battles. I also have been reading Science fiction books since as long as I can remember. Due to my readings of Science fiction I now write science fiction stories which I find extremely fun and entertaining. Over a year ago I was going to stop playing Rome total war due to that I lost interest. I was playing RTR for a while but got pissed at it due to the constant problems. But then I found Roma Surrectum and I havan't stop playing since. I just hope this mod never dies. Which I doubht it will. Hopefully it wil continue over to Empire total war. But that's for another time and discussion. I'm a very intelligent person but I don't look like one. I'm also a very peaceful person. Which is weird due to that I love games like Rome total war which require extreme aggression towards others. I'm also an avid researcher. I have collects GB's of information to learn. From Genetics to Military theory to the orgin of life and everything in between.

Wow. I feel really, really, really old right now.

For a lot of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with this forum or anyone on it, I do not give out personal information over the Internet.

I live in the Western United States. I am, uh, older. Twenty-something, going on thirty-something. I am a writer and I teach English with an emphasis on creative writing at an American University. I also serve on the undergraduate library acquisitions committee (and my office is in the library), and as of this semester I am faculty consultant for the University writing lab.

This semester I am teaching: Expository Writing, Modern World Literature, Creative Writing, Part II. In addition, I teach two sections of Introduction to Composition, a required course for liberal arts majors. I am married and my wife is an independent educational filmmaker.

Because of my work, I read a lot - usually between three and four books a week, almost all fiction. In addition, I try to write 3000 to 5000 words per day, although on busy days, I'm happy to get 1500 to 2000 words.

Some time ago, when I first discovered RTW, usually managed two to four hours a day of gameplay. Then I discovered RS and all my time went away. Now, I get an hour, maybe two, before I go to bed.

I think this is one of the greatest video games ever made.

I suppose I'll drop in as well. I'm Loren (guy!), 19 years old, and attending university at U. Illinois, Urbana Champaign. I'm currently majoring in 'barely passing', but occasionally I take history courses. I'd like to be a classical studies major, perhaps some anthropology thrown in there, but we'll see...

I enjoy all history, my favorite areas of study are of course Greece and Rome, but I have a soft spot for Balkan history and central asian shenanigans (Timur et al). I'm also an avid runner and outdoorsy fellow.

In terms of RTW I live RS the most, but RoP is high up there too. I can't wait for Hegemonia to be released. In M2, Tsardoms is great.

Holy crud! I know this place . . . I grew up in Illinois, in a small town near Carbondale. Growing up, I always assumed I would go to the U of I. When I was a junior in high school, my very Catholic father took to me to the U of I campus to visit. It just happened to be on a day when the student body of the University of Illinois celebrated "Hash Wedensday" (do they still celebrate that particular holday)?

Anyway, my very Catholic father was very much offended and I ended up at a certain world-renouned Catholic University just across the border from the U of I.

Wow. Small world. Good school, by the way. Old habits die hard, and I still cheer for the Illini (EDIT: . . . that is when I'm not cheering for the Fighting Irish!!)

    Edit again:

I thought I'd just toss this out: One of my favorite habits is starting AARs and not finishing them. It's not that I'm lazy, things just happen, I get sidetracked, life interferers . . . . you know how it is . . .

    Regards,

I am Censored Armenian Name, and I am attending one of the greatest if not the best public high school in America... I am an experienced though lazy musician (piano, music theory).

I know more history than anyone else at my school (all they care about is the Enlightenment, how predictable ). I am planning on majoring in archaeology and going to Turkey where I will valiantly fend off Kurdish raiders while discovering the lost cities of Hayasa-Azzi. I will then conquer the entire world.

I have been a member of RS for a while (just after Tyr left the team, I think), and I am continuing to contribute sporadically even though the vast majority of my knowledge has been emptied into Armenia and Pontus.

I also used to write a lot of AARs, though I have tapered off a bit in that regard. I am writing a science fiction novel in my spare time (spare time=time I am wasting when I am supposed to be doing something else).

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also like Dr. House, SOAD, and Serj Tankian. (as you have probably noticed)
