    Default Question about changing settlements

This question just came to mind recently but if I wanted to ,for example, change a castle into a city, do I get any refund for the castle-only buildings I'm going to destroy or are they destroyed with no reimbursement?

I never thought about it but if not true then if it's a bigger settlement, I can just raze the crap out of half the buildings, more cash to me

I think that when converting from castle to town or vice versa you don’t get any refund for the buildings “destroyed” in the process of conversion.
I’m not sure thou and at this moment I can not test it because I'm at work .
But if it is correct it makes sense to sell the settlement specific building before the conversion and with the money gathered found the building of the new settlement.

In any case, if you're planning to do this, do not destroy the church/chapel inside the town/castle, or your reputation with the pope will suffer.

As far as i know you dont get a refund, so just manually destroy markets/merchant docks/stables/archery ranges/tourny fields etc. before converting the settlement.

I guess I could just start a new campaign and experiment around on easy mode or something.

When you convert say a castle to a city, do you have to build the first level church again? Never paid enough attention to this and I wonder if buildings that have a city-counterpart (like roads, mines, ports and blacksmiths) stay in the settlement or if they go away.

There are certain buildings that you don't have to rebuild like churches, barracks etc. Buildings you can't build in a city will be destroyed after changing a castle in a city.
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.
