IBFD ONLINE HELP

I have been reading these posts on the ongoing online IBFD games and my interest has been peaked. I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I see that alot of the players prefer the Roman faction for themselves. I lean towards the Romans also but I wouldn't mind using a barbarian faction. I kind of lean towards the visigoths for my choice of factions, not 100% sure though. Actually It might be fun to pick a faction at random. My big problem is I have NEVER played any game online period. I don't even know where to start. Could someone explain this in detail. I followed the link SBH had in one of his posts and still I am not sure what to do.

do I first set up an account in gamespy?
what info is required?
do I need the cd key from my disc? I know my rtw disc has a code in the cd case but I don't see one in my BI case.
do I connect to the internet, then start IB running and then choose multi?
will this automatically connect me to gamespy or is there another step?

these questions may sound stupid but I am new at this

the usual stuff, no need for credit cards etc unless u want premium

u will need the CD key from the RTW disc. there is no CD key for BI

I know what you mean! I have to have throat lozenges. Don't know how Darth Vader gets away with it.

Anyway, how about a 2 vs 2 this weekend. We just have to syncronise times. Now that could be a battle in itself.

Sounds good. I can make anytime through the 24hr clock up into Sunday evening as I am on holiday at the moment but from Sunday evening can only be free up to around 2300 GMT, if that helps re planning?!

I can now log into gamespy from the multiplayer selection in IB but I have another question. If I am in the lobby and the status of all the current games shows up as not compatible does that mean that no one is currently hosting a game using IBFD?

Yes. If you like, when you are next free, I can host a game and you can come in and massacre whatever puny forces I muster just so you can go through the motions of online gaming without the pressure. Call it drill practice!
