OK, I have RTW and BI, and thinking about getting M2TW. I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE NEW AGENTS ARE? Can someone please give me a list on the agents and what they do/ what their skill is measured in. And can you build settlements? (like I've heard about in MTW one)

Priests (measure in piety) get rid of heretics which cause unrest by converting your religion to heresy, and convert to you rown religion

Merchents (measure in finance) create extra money based on the scarcity of the resource theyre gathering in your regions and the distance from your regions and their actual value

Spies (measured in subterfuge) they go around spying on people and if they get into a city they can open the gates

Assasins (measured in subterfuge) go around assasinating people as well

you cant build settlements. but you can choose settlements to be either castles or cities, castles train units and cities create more money

Also Diplomats, used for negotiations, and Princesses can do diplomacy aswell.

Assassins can also sabotage buildings (like in Rome) and spies will cause unrest in enemy cities.

Using teams of assassins, spies and priests (in the case of an enemy of a different religion) is a great way to make enemy cities rebel or at least lower the enemy (or allies if you want) faction's treasury (by repairing damaged buildings, training more garrison, lowering taxes).

I've also heard of an Inquisitor. What does that do?

Inquisitors travel around catholic lands with high heresy, on behalf of the pope, and can execute priests or even family members who aren't pious enough.

This means you have to keep heresy down or you can end up losing valuable generals.

How do you get piety?

A large part of piety rating is hereditary for family members, but they can get more by having churches built and going on crusade (possibly by conquering other religions' land maybe?? dunno).

Priests/imams get piety by preaching to increase the presence of their religion.
