Besides, those kids look quite discipline - no beating, kicking or even swearing in whole process. If I were the kidnapper, I would probably kick and beat the hostage out of shape then knock him out before pull him into car.

I wouldn't say desperate. Afterall kids are far more easier to manipulate than adults. I would say the insurgency is getting wiser if anything. There was the suicide bombings by people with mental disabilities not too long ago. Even easier to manipulate.

I wasn't really making a comment on the state of the war, as I have no opinion. However, it would seem that a lack of able minded individuals would lead to the recruitment of the more vulnerable, albeit less capable individuals. It could also simply be a way of putting operatives in the field who are less conspicuous.

We don't even know whether they actually participate in fighting, may be they just doing jobs like provide supply and kidnap people.

Besides, many of "child soldiers" are orphans whose parents die in the war. It is kindly sad but if they did not join those organizations most of them would probably die on the street due to starvation within a few weeks.
