Apologies for this very basic question but what are the dates for XGM? Or to be more precise, what date does the imperial campaign end? Many thanks!

The campaign starts at 280 BC and ends at 14 AD.
Which will be more than enough time for you to get quite sick of any campaign you play...
Hi Warmaster,
Thanks for this. I thought it would probably be AD14 but wanted to make sure.
I've been playing RTW and associated mods for a few months now and rarely finish a campaign.
I think I'd prefer a shorter time span with limited objectives that are a tough challenge.
But that said, I like XGM so far, so fingers crossed for a glorious outcome!
I think you'll find most RTW players don't finish campaigns, I know I don't. And practically no one will stick with a campaign long enough for around 300 years to have passed...
But regarding the idea of shorter time spans with set objectives I personally don't like that: I prefer that sort of idea that in each campaign you're basically free to let your empire grow and evolve as you want. eg you can decide to rush one direction, or rush another direction, or even turtle all game, etc. A long time frame with no objectives lets you do thatBut hey thats just me
Honestly, I have no idea. I only ever play long campaigns too![]()
Hi Warmaster,
That's actually a pretty cool reply. I never thought of taking that route before, but now I see that letting things evolve and seeing how they pan out is a good thing. I guess it's best to keep options open and also to have the freedom to be flexible. Thanks - that's got me thinking . . .
As for not finishing campaigns, I'm glad it's not just me! I've been on a steep learning curve and have been keen to try out different mods and different factions. My priority has been to learn about the game's possibilities and limitations and this has kept me occupied for a while.
But now I've learned some of the basics I'm starting wonder about the best way to tackle campaigns and actually achieve the victory conditions.
On that note, someone could come up with "suggested" victory conditions, i.e. the campaign victory condition is still the conquer-the-world variety but it also mentions things like "at its height, Carthage had such and such provinces" or "the Gaullic tribes had a standing army of this many men by whatever year..." Interesting historical references like that would give players certain goals that they could reach for, but it wouldn't be mandatory or change the campaign game.
Lankylars that's Genious! Some Historical information for goals would be great! ... except for "at xxx bc Your faction you chose died"
... then again I'd probably reach that goal WAY ahead of time XD
Someone could atleast post some up for us to see on the forums! I'm sure they'd get tons of props.
Warmaster are the short campaign victory conditions available in xgm?
I always play the long game.
Fix the problem, not the blame!

i also play long campaigns until i win or lose (98% that doesn't happen).
i have never played until the final year, i usually win much earlier! did anyone play until the last year? and if yes, did u lose because u didn't achieve the goal u had?
Macedonia was,is and will always be Hellenic.
it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
