    First of all I'm new here and this is my first post.

    The DLV mod is great! It is a magnificent upgrade to vanilla MTW2 and all new graphics (banners, anciliaries, units, loading screens) are beautiful! Since I'm Polish, I started playing this mod with Polish faction and what a pleasant surprise! At last Poland has normal banners and colours both on campaign map and in battles! Many thanks for this! I really couldn't stand white eagle on... white field in vanilla MTW2.

    Although this mod is great I have 2 major complains (questions).

    1. Character portraits for EE factions (I mean Poland and Hungary, to be exact) disapointed me greatly. Maybe they are accurate for very early middle-ages but in high and late middle-ages Polish/Hungarian Nobles looked more or less the same as WE nobles. Portraits for priests are even worse! Polish/Hungarian CATHOLIC priests should look the same as all other catholic priests! Now they look like common thieves after spending several years in castle dungeon.

    First question:
    How can I assign old portraits to Polish/Hungarian characters? I have some basic modding experience. I know the new portraits are in UI folder but which file is used to match each faction's characters with a proper portraits set? I couldn't find it.

    2. As in vanilla MTW2, Western Europe is full of provinces and settlements while East is full of huge empty provinces. This is simply unfair. If you don't belive me then open map_regions.tga file and count the number of provinces in British Isles (14), Spain (14 + 1 island), Italy (10 + 4 islands), France (a lot) and Germany (a lot). Now look at the comparable in size territory of Poland and surrunding lands (7-9, depands on which you count in). This applies also to Hungary and Kievan Rus.

    Second question:
    How can I add a province to DLV mod? I know how to do this in my own mod but it doesn't work here. system.log.txt says "... Total War encountered an unspecified error...". I suspect the province number limit has been reached and I need to delete some other province or maybe more files and scripts need to be updated with the new province name...

    So, could someone tell me, please, what files should be updated or how can I effectively remove an old province (which file needs to be modified?). Please note I don't ask for a guide how to add a province in a mod, just what has to be done additionally in case of DLV.

    Ps. Polish blood trait for princesses should give at least +5 charm!!! (just kidding!)

    just to say that i agree, i m mainly a strategic campaign player (i play only a few battles) and in my taste, there is not enough provinces/cities in DLV...Eastern europe is just an empty space...but even for western europe, there not enough cities in France, England, Spain, italia...

    will be wonderfull if DLV add a few historical provinces/cities

    Adding provinces in DLV works fine now... since I stopped making stupid mistake.

    But could someone tell me, please, how can I bring back original character portraits for Hungary and Poland?

    The new character pictures for eastern cultures are from MTW I....just for fun
    Don't take DLV too serious.

    I agree with your comment about the vast open space.. need more settlements.. read my post in the DLV comments/suggestion thread...

    probably would take some time... but might be worth it... i suggested flooding the map with villages and forts with at most a motte and bailey upgrade. the villages would be just that a village which would represent all the minor settements between the major ones... basically none upgradable...

    Repman,

    dont understand... Im not talking about the forts in kingdoms... I probably used the wrong words.. I meant non upgradable villages and the lowest developed castle which I beleive is fort with motte and bailey...

    If non-upgradeable villages and castle could be added, I agree that it would be pretty cool and add in another nice element to the already impressive depth of the mod. Maybe it will get some consideration from the powers that be.

    I just found that there is a 199 limit to the number of provinces.. so this idea is dead..... it sucks.. but I kinda figured there would a catch...

    I should have known better.. if it would have been possible.. DLV would have had it...

    is it possible to add small villages with out adding any new provinces. they would be like the forts in kingdoms only generating some money

    Adding small village textures around certain trade resources woudl certainly make the map a bit "prettier" as well as providing a bit more justification behind certain trade resources such as silk or sheep - im pretty sure there would be a farming community around both of those, be it silk farmers or wool farmers
    Of course this is all that can be done without adding any more provinces as Mr Lime has described above.

    Too bad they are just window dressing....It would be so cool if there was extra devastation when someone parked on a village...
