This is just a little venting thread I thought up. Basically you just list anything you consider to be a 'crime against culture' in some way. Be it awful music or writing or art or anything. Just a thread to let you vent out some of your anger against these crimes against culture. Anyway, here's mine.

No, not that emo-song. This. Read it and mourn for the rape of the English language This story is so bad that it made me weep. I wept, this story made me cry at the sheer badness of it. It's THAT awful.

God that was bad but in all truthfulness I have read worse fanfiction on that site it just seems most of them give up after the first chapter and are never seen again but this one keeps on going.

Words that were never required in the first place. Like the word bouncbackabilty; What the bloody hell was wrong with resilience? That is a nice word, bouncbackabilty on the other hand is a butchering of our fine language .

That is not "Rape of English", but rather the writer has problem to organize his storyline and makes it interesting.

Nothing about English problem from my view, but he do need to learn how to write an interesting essay.

This is a steaming pile of a fanfic that a kid i went to school with wrote. he was a pathological liar and had a problem with stealing(this was a boarding school so that was a big problem). one day one of my friends decided enough was enough and got revenge by posting the guys 80 page novella online.
while it was a douche thing to do i find it hard to feel sorry for the kid because of the above mentioned reasons. i swear that it will make your eyes bleed. some guy who read the story online is now making a webcomic out of it. if you want to read it just search "christian humber reloaded" on google.http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=43821

This is (as far as I'm concerned) one of the worst examples of modern art:

It's a painting called Who's afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue III, made by Barnett Newman, on display in the municipal museum of Amsterdam.. I feel there's absolutely nothing that could possibly make me like this, especially not if you compare it to real works of art:

    Rembrandt van Rijn: The Nightwatch.

Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night.

Joseph Mallord William Turner: The fighting Temeraire tugged to her last berth to be broken up.

That upper painting is a disgrace to painting and artists and should never have been bought in the first place. Modern art..

As for music.. Well, there's plenty of music that's hard on the ears, but I honestly don't understand how people can possibly like Death metal and all the grunting and growling that's involved. That's so far beyond anything remotely musical..

EDIT: By the way, great idea for a thread.. I've been meaning to vent this for a while and this seemed like just the place to do it..

I agree, i hate this 'modern art', I could paint a single black square on a white canvas and sell it for thousands nowadays .

Most death metal sucks, but when it's done well it can create atmosphere that you won't find in other genres:

    3:19

Agree completely with you on that painting though.

Aside from anything that recieves radio airplay, I'd have no nominate Manowar as culture criminals.

Reality TV. Every time I watch a reality show I think "My god that was the worst thing I have ever seen, But at least they can't possibly make anything any worse." And then something like Fox's "The Moment of Truth" comes out and I want to put my television through the wall.

Plus there's that steaming pile of crap American Idol.

Oh, don't get me wrong.. I didn't mean to rip on all modern art. There are some works that I find very beautiful or intriguing, but I really can't respect stuff like that which I posted earlier..

I'm also not a very big fan of Jackson Pollock's works, although I like it more than the other piece. I mean; anyone can stand over a huge canvas and drip his paint to make it look like this..

The big difference with the earlier example is simply the fact that this takes a lot of time and effort. In comparison with the other one this is quite complex.. I still probably wouldn't pay any money to go and see it though..

You seem to think that technical skill is the only thing that matters. As long as something has creative thought behind it is art.

@ Wilpuri: So the way to protest against "degenerate art" is to resort to degenerate criminal acts?

Well that's what I said, right?
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

You didn't really say anything but asking a question like "But who is the criminal against culture? Serrano (the artist) or the four Nationalists?" is a statement in its own right. This kind of vandalism is comparable to Islamists blowing up ancient Egyptian or Buddhist statues.

Are you sure that is not meant to be ironic?
Surely, no one that was tyring their best can write something that atrocious?!

For me, any time paris hilton or britney spears is mentioned in news media. How these pathetic freakshows constitute news or how their antics warrant coverage above numerous domestic and international issues is beyond me.

Also, I loathe emo music with a passion, as well as some hip-hop so-called 'artists'.

And un-funny comedies like "My name is earl". Whoever created that piece of crap should be crucified.

EDIT: Gunslinger, that is hilariously bad!
IMO its worth being published, just for the ridicule. Kind of feel sorry for the guy though - must've had a horrible time for the rest of his schooling days. Btw, how old was he when he wrote this?
Still reading through the third paragraph (and I cant stop laughing ) and my favourite line so far is: “NOOO! WHOEVER DID THIS WILL PAY DEARLY, BECAUSE I LOVED THEM?” (rofl@the question mark)

He was 18 years old when he wrote his masterpiece. My friends and i spent many hours treasuring such quotes as
"Darkness never dies no matter how many times you kill it"
"I killed all the raiders and ate their guts"
and just to give you a sense of how it flows "I had no money so I had to become a bounty hunter, in order to get money for food and water. Some of the people wanted me to kill world leaders like, the one who started the Holocaust, that’s right I had to assassinate Hitler, and I got a huge bounty for doing it, after I got the money I killed the person who hired me. I had enough money to get a weapon; I got a sword because I know how to use it. Another portal opened and I fell in and landed in a different world, I landed and began exploring, I fell into a trap that disables your powers, I began to swear a lot in frustration, I stopped when a tall hedgehog was staring at me, and asked “how’d you get in that trap?” I told him what happened to me, but keeping my sword ready for any sign of danger, he got me out of the trap, I was about to thank him, when a robot appeared and I slashed the robot in half with my sword. He asked me “what’s your name?” I told him “Vash” he laughed I asked “what’s so funny about my name?” he said “Vash isn’t a name for you, hmmm...” then he said “how about you go by the name of Blade” I said “Blade?” he said “yea, because you’re the only wolf I know who can weld a sword like a pro” I asked him “I haven’t heard your name yet, so what is it?” he said “the name’s Spin, Spin the Hedgehog” I said “Glad to meet you”"
The webcomic that some guy made is pretty funny as well.http://www.nerdramblingz.com/chr/

Also 'undeserving' celebrities. Sting deserves celebrity. Johnny Depp deserves celebrity. Hell, even Tom Cruise deserves celebrity despite his...other interests. But people like Paris Hilton...WTF? What the hell did she do to contribute in some way to humanity? Made us laugh I suppose...
