    Default Trouble with Recruitable Generals

    Howdy guys, I'm very new to any attempts to mod my M:TW, so please bear with me if I've missed something obvious. The way things stand now, I've attempted to modify my export_descr_buildings file so that I can recruit generals, per the instructions here:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...t=75603&page=2

    The entry looks like this:

    recruit_pool "Conquistadores" 1 0.4 3 0 requires factions { spain, portugal, } and hidden_resource america
    recruit_pool "Dismounted Conquistadores" 1 0.4 3 0 requires factions { spain, portugal, } and hidden_resource america
    recruit_pool "Town Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, spain, portugal, Normans, }
    recruit_pool "NE Bodyguard" 1 0.1 1 0 requires factions { england, scotland, france, hre, denmark, poland, hungary, Normans, }
    recruit_pool "SE Bodyguard" 1 0.1 1 0 requires factions { spain, portugal, milan, venice, papal_states, sicily, }
    recruit_pool "EE Bodyguard" 1 0.1 1 0 requires factions { russia, }
    recruit_pool "Greek Bodyguard" 1 0.1 1 0 requires factions { byzantium, }
    recruit_pool "Italian Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { milan, venice, papal_states, sicily, }
    recruit_pool "EE Town Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { poland, hungary, }
    recruit_pool "EE Archer Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { russia, }
    recruit_pool "SE Town Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { byzantium, }
    recruit_pool "ME Town Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { moors, turks, mongols, timurids, }
    recruit_pool "ME Archer Militia" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { egypt, }
    recruit_pool "Peasant Spearmen" 1 0.2 2 0 requires factions { Saxons, }
    wall_level 1
    gate_strength 1
    tower_level 1
    free_upkeep bonus 3
    happiness_bonus bonus 1
    recruitment_slots 2
    }
    However, in the game, I don't have the option of recruiting the generals. Can anyone suggest what I'm missing?

    Sounds like you didn't use a mod folder or io file switch. Open the shortcut to the game you are using and make sure the target area looks like this:
    "C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\medieval2.exe" --io.file_first
    Basically you have to add --io.file_first to end of the shortcut, outside of the quotes.

    Hi! Thanks for the response. I added that suffix as you suggested, but I still am unable to recruit generals. Is there something else I need to do?

    Did you add it to all buildings in the building tree (for instance all stable buildings)? If so, try upgrading a building and see if that does it. Sometimes changes to recruitments don't show properly in savegames.

    I'm not sure, I believe I just added it to the one, unless that bit of script up there covers more than one structure. Thanks, I'll try that!

    :EDIT: Howdy, I just wanted to drop back in and say "thanks" because it's working great now! I had only added it to one particular type of city, and that proved to be the problem. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!
