    Default Hotseat battles`

    Can you actually fight the battles in hotseat mode? (Me and my mate are gonna be allies ayway) or is it like the other crap hotseat modes where everything skipped and if you get attacked during the AI's turn you don't even get an alert?

    I can attack during Hotseat Games, but I cannot defend. I am doing something incorrect??

    Nope,
    you aren't doing anything wrong.
    defense in battle mode without auto resolve would be very complicated in hot seat mode because it would mean the defending player must play his defensive battle when its not his turn.

    So when its your turn you have total control.
    but once you click next turn and give your turn to the next player its completely our of your hands.

    It's the price you pay for playing hot seat, sorry.

    as a side note, there are settings depending on whether youa re actually playing a hotseat (sharing computers) campaign game or playing an online campaign that would allow you to fight out a battle against the AI when you are attacked. But when you play online campaigns with each other you're limited to the battles that occur within your turn only.

    Hope that didn't confuse you, pretty much everything Triforce said is how it is.

    This can be solved easily... Open the "medieval2.preference" file with notepad, scroll down till you find hotseat and replace what is there with the following:

    [hotseat]
    turns = 0
    scroll = 0
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 0
    disable_papal_elections = 1
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 1
    validate_diplomacy = 1

    Now you can defend in hotseat
