    Default Battering Ram and Garrison Script

    Hello everyone. I have a question and a problem while playing DLV 5.3.
    1)I don't know why, but when I storm the gate with battering ram it does amazingly high damage to it, no matter what type it is. Reinforced fortress's gate takes 5% in one hit. I hopped into descr_walls to check on it, but comparing it to the other descr_walls from the other mods it (full_health) looks really big. I've tried rising the number up and it did help, but it can't be the solution, since nobody besides me had this kind of a problem (YES, I've checked!) and I don't want to play with it, because I'm not, let's say, qualified to do it properly. Any suggestions? Is there a file with 'ram's' forcepower or anything like that? Oh and I haven't played with any file, so that's not 'my fault' actually...

    2)Is it possible to enable to garrison script for a player as well, because surrounded by two carnivore muslims they can be a ***** and bite my butt hardly and it would also even the sides.

    Anyone? Just a little reply regarding 'full_health' of your 'gates' maybe? That would help too, somehow, cause I don't know what number to type there in descr_walls.

    Okay, I shall leave this file alone, it's easier to rise the number of the particular gate then to mess with all these dizzy numbers. What about the second question? (Of course if someone could answer descriptively to the first one I would appreciate that).

    EDIT. I set gates' 'full_health' to 800 - 7500 depending on a type and it finally worked (1 hit = 1-2 %), but is it normal? Default settings varied from 200 to 1000 and hell, the strongest gate took 8% each strike which was ridiculous.

    1) 5% doesn't sound right on a fortress gate...I wonder if these were tweaked since earlier DLV versions?
    2) Yes it is! Although I can't remember exactly how to do it. It was something about changing counter numbers in the garrison script making the AI think that the faction you are playing is an AI faction. Harry Lime was the one who said how to do it so might want to ask him.

    You could just change the value in descr_engines.txt for tortoise_ram

    from
    attack_stat 30, 4, no, 0, 0, melee, melee_simple, blunt
    attack_stat_attr no

    to
    attack_stat 20, 4, no, 0, 0, melee, melee_simple, blunt
    attack_stat_attr no

    Or to any value you like. Instead of making the gates an unnormously healthy

    Every move you make
    Every town upgrade
    Every treaty break

    It seems I barely ever get to use a battering ram, as soon as my unit gets the ram to the gates the enemy comes rushing out the front gate to attack the unit operating the ram. Interesting strategy on their part. Granted I have only been beating up on rebels for the most part to this point. Has anyone else encountered this?

    Yes, but they generally do it when your army is weaker then theirs.
