Default Armies fill up automaticly before siege

    Hello everybody !

First, I'd like to congratulate and thanks the poeple who have done this mod, I play it since a while and I think it's a really good job.

I play the "Deus lo Veult 3.2" mod and I'm doing a campaign with the Frenchs.
I just don't understand why, almost each time, just before I attack a city (or a castel) a lot of armies appears suddenly into.
I think this is very boring and I am looking for a solution to fix this problem. :hmmm:

Do anyone can help me ?

I hope I have posted this topic on a right place, in case not, I am sorry !!!!

    Thanks !

That'll be the 'Garrison Script' an integeral feature of the main campaign script.

Try: Main Menu > Custom Campaign > NoGarrison_DLV_Campaign

It also makes the turns noticeably quicker.

This isn`t a kind of fixing a problem but this is the main clue of game. Creating more troops at the time of siege making mod harder and more interesting. Try to play longer and admire this

Thank you guys for your answers !

I'm pretty ok that makes the game harder and more interesting... but I just don't understand why theses armies come for the computer, but never when I need them !!!! lol !
Someone attacks one of my cities, no troops come !

It is supposed to represent the local nobles and farmers/peasants coming to defend their city.

I find it excessive on harder difficulty levels and I feel it should only actually happen for capital cities or settlements of the large size. Not every settlement.
So I prefer to play without it.

I would like to see it work for you as well as against you however .. that'd be cool.

It is possible for the garrison script to be enabled for the player faction. Harry Lime is the genius you need to ask about that though as when i attempted i screwed the pooch and had to reinstall DLV all over again (must rememebr to back up files i edit in future)!

I love the garrison script and I guess I am a hard game fanatic, because I belive it should be greater.. but still great...

    Anyway...

The comment about it doesnt occur for your own settlements. first off, one of the purposes is to assist the AI in defending their cities since the AI isnt smart enough. you as the human should be smart enough to defend your cities from an oncoming siege.. if you didnt see it, perhaps by a watchtower or something, then give the AI credit for doing something that is rare... which is something smart!!!

originally, repman included the garrison script for the human player but this was a disaster for severla reasons... one reason is that the AI has the tendency to siege one or your settlements with measly 1 pr 2 unit peasant armies.. this would spawn huge garrision and totally unbalance the economy and gameplay.. it works really well the way it is now...

the only downfall to the script is when a crusade is called on a capital city of someone... the crusade is lasting decades before someone conquers that city... this is happening to me right now... i cant request a crusade from the pope becuase this unreolved crusade cant get finished becusae no one can conquer Paris...

Don't crusades have a shelf life? I may be confusing this with Crusader Kings, but dont they 'petter out' after a decade or so? If not, perhaps they should.

Just kill the Pope and they will be reconciled.

They should go after about 10-15 years however there is on occasion a problem when the king dies the same turn as a crusade is called where the crusade will last until the death of the pope. However as Gubbs states yo ucan simply kill the pope to get reconciliation.
